Summary:
A lonely middle-aged woman befriends some teenagers and decides to let them party in the basement of her home. But there are some house rules: One of the kids has to stay sober, don’t curse, and never go upstairs. They must also refer to her as Ma. But as Ma’s hospitality starts to curdle into obsession, what began as a teenage dream turns into a terrorizing nightmare, and Ma’s place goes from the best place in town to the worst place on Earth.

Acting:
The main character in this movie includes Sue Ann aka Ma (Octavia Spencer) who always portrays her characters in movies realistically. Her character flips the switch (kind of bi-polar) and goes from friendly to obsessive. Octavia got into character so well, as she has done in other movies, she made a great name for herself in this movie. The group of kids in the movie included Andy Hawkins (Corey Fogelmanis), Erica (Juliette Lewis), Haley (McKaley Miller), Chaz (Gianni Paolo), and Darrell (Dante Brown). Each of them played their parts fantastically, each showing different personalities of high school and what teenagers do. Especially in small towns, when there is nothing to do.

Soundtrack:
The soundtrack consisted of party songs when the parties were happening. There were not really a soundtrack that I realized during the movie.

Overall, my rating for this movie was a 4 out of 5 due to the twisted plot that was unexpected at times. Although some parts were able to be foreshadowed, the acting was top notch. They chose a great cast for the movie and it is a great revenge movie. Portraying how some people get obsessive and this was a good example of one of them. Although some parts were confusing, including Genie and stay home due to an “illness.”
