How Are Your New Year’s Resolutions Going?
According to U.S. News & World Report, 80 percent of New Year’s resolutions fail by February. This large percentage makes me ponder about why the world makes such a big fuss over making resolutions at the start of every new year. It’s possible that resolutions fail so quickly, because of the length it takes for a new year to arrive. Why do we insist on waiting until a year is over to start making changes in our lives? Change can be made in the 365 days in the year we are currently living in now. The more time spent waiting for change only prolongs its arrival and effectiveness. You do not constantly have to wait for something, or someone to motivate you to change. You yourself can be the spark that ignites it. It is just that we like to wait for other people to start something rather than take risks, and initiate change ourselves at any moment. This year I did not make a formal list of resolutions. Instead, I am going with the flow and listening to my intuition. When I get the feeling that there is something that needs to be changed or improved upon, I will immediately work on bringing that change to fruition. If you did make resolutions, however, I do hope you will not fail so quickly. I just kindly ask that you remember that you do not need to wait for a specific moment to change. Live in the moment. Strive to change and improve your life each and every day.
