Fitbit to Fitness

By Shelynn Handy

Buying a Fitbit is something that I never thought I’d do… but we’re here now and there’s no turning back. I felt inclined to buy the FitBit because in my eyes, it was a somewhat cheaper and less functional version of an apple watch. That was fine with me because I personally don’t need that much distraction directly on my wrist.

The first week was kind of odd. I didn’t really use it and when I did I wasn’t using it well. I didn’t have my watch and my phone properly synced and it just seemed pointless at first.

Then I finally realized how to make it fit my life a bit better. One of my resolutions for the new year was to take my weight gain and health journey more seriously and the fitbit helped me finally keep that in check. I can track my calories, exercise, and weight all on the app and my Fitbit will help me keep track of how close (or far) I am from these goals each day. And when I meet these goals, I get a cute little celebratory notification. I’m finding myself eating more and working out more for the satisfaction of really seeing me meet my goals everyday.

I have a long way to go before I meet my ultimate goals, but I’m getting closer and closer everyday.
