I had the opportunity to go behind the scenes with Cameryn Dixon, Khayri Judd, Vince Sewell, and Ayreonna Hudson to gain an inside look at how Delaware State University’s upcoming TikTok account is being developed. This experience offered valuable insight into the planning, creativity, and teamwork required to successfully manage a university-level social media platform.

Each student plays an active role in shaping DSU’s digital presence. From initial concept development to filming and editing, the process is highly collaborative. Content planning meetings focus on identifying current trends, brainstorming original ideas, and determining how to translate campus culture into short-form video content that resonates with both current and prospective students. Every post is created with purpose, ensuring it aligns with DSU’s brand, values, and overall messaging.

“We want people to feel DSU’s energy through the screen,” Hudson said. “If someone watches our TikToks and feels like they already belong here, then we did our job.” I also observed how much strategy goes into posting content. Timing, consistency, and audience engagement are all carefully considered. The team pays close attention to analytics, using performance data such as views, shares, and comments to evaluate what works best. This information helps guide future content decisions and allows the team to continuously improve their approach.

Beyond content creation, I learned that communication and organization are essential. Coordinating schedules, securing filming locations, and ensuring everyone is aligned require strong teamwork and leadership. The students work together to ensure deadlines are met and that the content remains authentic, informative, and engaging.

Going behind the scenes with Cameryn Dixon, Khayri Judd, Vince Sewell, and Ayreonna Hudson gave me a greater appreciation for the effort that goes into DSU’s social media presence. Their creativity, dedication, and attention to detail are laying the groundwork for a TikTok account that will highlight campus life, student voices, and the overall spirit of Delaware State University in a dynamic and impactful way.
