When given assignments in school I typically don’t want to complete them, but I know that I have too. Here are some of the ways I focus on my work;

Put the Phone on Do Not Disturb

I am an individual who finds themself constantly on my phone when I am trying to study. The minute I see a notification pop up I am tempted to respond. While my phone is on do not disturb, I will receive no notifications, limiting distractions.

Choosing the Right Time to Study

Throughout my school years, I have struggled to find what time of day I work best during. I tried doing my work late at night or in the morning. Through trial and error, I found that I work best in the morning. Then leaving the afternoon to relax.

Listen to Music

I have a short attention span, so I have to have something going in the background. I like to play calming music when I am doing my homework, as it puts me in a study mood.

Take Breaks

For example, working on an assignment for a period of time then move on to something separate. This helps to alleviate the tired of feeling when completing course work.

Enlist in a Friend

Whether via phone or in-person having a friend to motivate you are beneficial. Typically, when I find myself struggling to focus I will meet up with a friend and work on homework together. Or simply calling someone and having small chit-chat while completing assignments.
