Trend Alert: Felt Hats

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at DePauw chapter.
I haven’t seen too many floppy hats hitting campus yet, but they are all the rage with celebrities and fashion bloggers. Felt hats are all over stores and online boutiques in a wide range of colors from green to red to classic black. Felt hats can come in many styles like fedoras or floppy brimmed hats. They can be worn out to a night at the bars, to keep your head warm on a chilly day, or even just to hide a bad hair day!

I have a super tiny head and can never find hats that fit me right. Luckily, over fall break, I finally found the perfect maroon felt hat and it has since become a wardrobe staple. I got my hat at a California boutique, but this is a similar style and color. I plan to pair my hat with a monochrome striped dress and grey booties for an upcoming concert.

The patterned trim adds a little bit of 70’s vibe to this otherwise classic black hat. Personally, I would play off of the bright colors in the trim and pair this fabulous hat with a red T-shirt dress!

This grey hat is a fedora style with leather trim. Because of the simple design, this hat could be dressed up with a LBD or dressed down with a pair of jeans!

This J. Crew hat comes at a higher price, but it could be a great investment because of the neutral color. This nude hat is so versatile and could be paired with pretty much anything!

I love, love, love this hat! The olive-green color is perfect for fall and the floppy brim is super unique. Plus, I love knotted felt trim! I think this green hat would provide the perfect pop of color paired with a grey sweater and dark jeans.
