As we hit the halfway point in this semesters’ finals week the need to solidify a study space or find one becomes crucial. This is why I have narrowed down some of the best places to study on campus. If it is an absolutely quiet place or a more active space you desire it can be found on this list of the top five places to study at DePauw.

  1. The Student Union Building

If you are looking for a more active place to study, the UB is a great place to study. There is the UB living room which has tables and chairs as well as armchairs and comfortable loveseats. The UB is a great place to get work done either on your own or with some friends. The C-store is just a few feet away and is a nice way to grab a snack while studying.

  1. Julian Science and Mathematics Building

Julian is another great place to study. Julian is much quieter and dimly lit than the UB but makes for a great atmosphere to concentrate and get lots of work done. There are three floors to study on and many classrooms. In Julian, there are tables and even some armchairs if you’d like to be more comfortable while studying. But if your goal is to get whole assignments done, start to finish. There are classrooms with desktops and large tables with plenty of room for all of your study materials.

  1. The Green Center for the Performing Arts

The large comfy couches and armchairs found outside Kresge Auditorium or the table and chairs not too far from the practice rooms is another great place to get some work done. During the day the Green center can be a little active as it is a popular place for groups of students to work together, however, at night it is quiet and there is plenty of space to work. Students can be seen in the Green center as early as six in the morning and stay as late at two in the morning.

  1. Eli’s Books and Starbucks Café

Sometimes when studying a cup of coffee is a game-changer and can make you feel more refreshed and ready to get some work done. If that is the case then the Starbucks in downtown Greencastle is the place to study. There are counter seats and even tables and chairs for more space. The atmosphere is quite bustling and at times can be a little loud but if that is the environment you need to get some work done, then Starbucks is a great place to get some work done.

  1. Asbury Hall

In Asbury, there are quiet classrooms with desks and some classrooms have large tables if it is table space you are in need of. Asbury is one of my favorite places to study in. I can be found in one of the lounges on the first floor, second-floor discussion rooms, or a secluded third-floor corner classroom. Asbury is great if you need to be alone and completely quiet to get your work done.
