Pithy & Profound: How to survive finals!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at DePauw chapter.

1. PLAYLISTS. This maybe one of the most important, if not the most important, thing to get you through finals this semester.  Whether it’s on iTunes, Pandora or Spotify, you’ve got to come up with some great playlists to fit you and the moody attitude that’s sure to come out during finals week.  Right now we’re loving Outasight’s debut album, “Nights Like These.”

2. Study snacks. Plan out your study snacks now!  Head to Kroger and get some apples, snack packs, or whatever you will be craving come finals week.  Odds are that the only you will be leaving the library is for meals, so pack a little somethin’ somethin’ to get you through!  We’ll be munching on rice cakes and peanut butter fa dayss.

3. Third floor of Roy. BRING A BLANKET! You’ve been warned.

4. Study breaks.  One suggestion: organize your Christmas list!

5.  Start Early.  Have you been to Julian these last couple days anytime after 8pm?  It’s a MADHOUSE.  Get to Roy or Julian early to stake out your desired spot!

6. Go to Starbucks, Blue Door, or Prindle.  We can all agree that finals week can be very monotonous.  Switch it up and try different study spots.

7.  Exercise.  Working out can be the perfect study break, and it will make you feel good during your stressful week.  We suggest walking the Rim Trail in the Nature Park with your friends!

8.  Buy a Christmas tree.  We don’t know about you, but the holiday season is ultimately what is getting us through these last few finals.  A 10 minute (max) drive on 231 north is what lays between you and a wonderful Christmas tree farm, so go out there and get in the holiday spirit!

9. Dress well, test well.  If you would rather wear your cozy clothes to study and take your 2 hour test, we completely understand.  But, sometimes putting on a cute outfit in the morning can make all the difference when studying all day!

10. Meet with teachers.  Most DePauw teachers are always willing to meet with their students.  We suggest you take advantage of their accessibility and ask them question about your tests or papers.  If anything else, it shows them that you care and are hardworking!
