HerCampus: Hi Libby, thanks for taking the time to talk with us today! I know you must be extremely busy as not only a HerCampus Editor, but as our newly elected President of the Executive Council of the DePauw Panhellenic Association! For those of us who might not know, what is the DePauw Panhellenic Association?

Libby Warren: The DePauw Panhellenic Association is the governing organization of women’s fraternities, which at DePauw includes Alpha Chi Omega, Delta Gamma, Alpha Phi, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Kappa Alpha Theta and Pi Beta Phi. The Panhellenic Association creates a link between the six sororities and other campus organizations.

HC: It is refreshing to hear that there is a board to unite the different organizations we have on campus! What made you want to run for a Panhellenic Executive Council position?

LW: As a sophomore I ran for Panhellenic Vice President of Risk Management because I wanted to get more involved at DePauw and in Greek life. I had such a great experience in this position, and I felt there was so much more to be done, that I ran for President this year.

HC: That’s great! It will certainly be nice to have someone with experience returning to the board. What are some of the goals you have as President?

LW: My biggest goal is unification. I want Panhellenic to be closer with the other Greek chapters at our school, including Interfraternity Council, Multicultural Greek Council, and National Pan-Hellenic Council. While each organization may be different, we all have common goals and values. Of course, I want better relations within the six Panhellenic sororities as well!

HC: Those sound like attainable goals. With recruitment right around the corner, what are some tips you have for potential new members (PNM’s)?

LW: My biggest tip would be to follow your heart. As cliché as it sounds, go where you feel comfortable, and where you want to call home. So many women make their decisions on their friends or where they think they are “supposed” to be, but I believe you won’t really know until that final round. The six Panhellenic sororities at DePauw are all unique and have amazing things to offer, and there really is a place for everyone!

HC: It sounds like joining a Panhellenic organization has made a positive impact on your DePauw experience. So, why specifically did you go through recruitment and initiate?

LW: I went through recruitment because I saw the great effect it had on my parents. To this day, my mom and dad still talk about their sisters and brothers. I chose DePauw because I wanted that experience. Becoming a member of Pi Beta Phi has given me so many opportunities. I have become a better friend, leader, and all around better person.

HC: It’s really nice that you have been able to share such similar experiences with your parents. Now, looking down the road, what would you like to do post-graduation?

LW: My dream job is to be a Pi Beta Phi Leadership Development Consultant. The LDC travels to different college campuses in order to education and supervise various Pi Phi chapters. It only lasts a year, but I think it would be a great thing to do after graduation! And after that, as much as I love the Midwest, I see somewhere warm in my future. I would love to move to Los Angeles and work in marketing or advertising. I want something fast-paced and exciting. While I don’t know exactly what I want to do, I know I want to love it.

HC: And looking at your success thus far, we have no doubt that you will be able to accomplish these goals and more! Now, as someone we’ve selected as a campus role model for others to emulate, who is your biggest role model?

LW: My mom, Jennifer. She is such a strong woman, and I hope to someday be half the person she is.

HC: We’re confident that you will get there. Thanks again for taking the time to talk with us, and we hope you have both a successful recruitment this winter and the following.
