How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days: The College Edition

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at DePauw chapter.

Do you have a guy you want to get rid of but you don’t want to be the one to end it? Well here are ten almost fool-proof ways to lose a guy in ten days.

1.     Insist that you do everything together all the time (especially studying). Then be horribly upset whenever he even remotely suggests that he doesn’t want that.   2.     Text more than talk.  And always end your texts with at least one heart emoji of each color.

3.     Do not like his friends.  And tell him how you feel more than once.

4.     Never order fries, dessert or other junk food.  Then, eat the fries, dessert and basically all the food that he orders.

5.       Constantly discuss any topic he has no interest in and then look uninterested whenever he talks about what he likes. Bonus points if you check your phone multiple times when he’s talking.

6.     Mother him to the extreme. Tie his shoes for him. Tuck his napkin in his collar. Stand outside the door when he uses the restroom to remind him to wash his hands. The opportunities are endless.

7.      Insist you take couple photos for Instagram everywhere you go.  Caption it with something like “our love is eternal” or “can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with this guy” (remember this is only day seven). And don’t be shy when it comes to dramatic filters.

8.      Never take your headphones out, and quietly sing along to whatever song you’re listening to. If he asks you if you want to play it out loud, decline the offer and a few seconds later go back to quietly singing.

9.     Refuse to take the elevator. Especially if it’s over 3 stories. Don’t give any explanation. Just be furious if he even suggests it.

10.   Surprise him! Buy a puppy for the two of you to raise! Also, make sure to work out a visitation schedule. Or to make things easier, suggest moving in.

And Voila! The guy should be long gone (unless he’s crazy. In that case faking amnesia would be justified). You’re welcome.
