7 Fall Style Necessities

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at DePauw chapter.

Fall is upon us and with it comes colder weather and changing leaves—the perfect backdrop for your next Insta post! Finally, the season of layers, booties, and turtlenecks has arrived. It’s time to start putting away those tank tops and sandals and pull out all your cute, comfy clothes. Here is a list of seven style necessities so you can walk to class with cozy confidence:

1. Turtleneck

This cozy piece will keep you looking stylish and warm for your walks to class on those cool fall mornings.

2. Jean Jacket

This versatile piece can be layered over a sweater on particularly chilly fall mornings. You can also pair it with a fun graphic tee for those warmer days too.

3. Anorak

A style staple – this jacket can be worn with just about anything. I love to pair mine with a patterned t-shirt dress or a pair of leggings and a striped tee. Anorak jackets come in multiple colors too, with army green being the most popular. I also have camel and navy blue colors too!

4. Herringbone Vest

This fun patterned vest is perfect for those days that aren’t cold enough for a jacket, but still chilly enough to require a little something extra. Pair it with a plain long sleeve and distressed denim and this is the perfect look for a day of classes.

5. Blanket Scarf

Once you figure out how to fold it, this scarf will be your new best friend. A statement piece, the blanket scarf can make any outfit pop. They come in a variety of plaid and solid colors to keep you warm on a brisk fall day.

6. Black denim

Paired with an oversized sweater or a flannel, these are a fun twist on traditional jeans. Add some gold accessories to this outfit to rep your Tiger pride all fall long.

7. Booties

These are the perfect transitional footwear! It’s not quite cold enough to justify riding boots, but you won’t lament their absence with a pair of these cute ankle boots in your closet. Pair them with some cuffed jeans, and it’s the perfect fall look!
