We all probably agree that Fridays are the best because it means the start of the weekend and all the fun it brings. For me though, Fridays are even more exciting because I get to listen to my New Releases playlist on Spotify. If you have a Spotify and you haven’t listened to your New Releases playlist you are doing it all wrong because it is literally the best thing ever. It is a perfect way to see if your favorite artists have dropped new songs, and it requires very little effort because it is all right there. I have found some of my favorite songs because of this wonderful feature Spotify provides, and I’m going to share some of them with you here.

Rushing Back by Flume ft. Vera Blue

I remember when I first listened to this song while I was walking to work. I had never been that into Flume so I wasn’t expecting much, but turns out it’s my favorite song. My favorite part about the song is how Vera Blue’s voice is very light while the music adds elements of EDM. It makes for a very fun song that can be played at all times of the day. This song is about being caught between the past and present, wishing you could go back and change it but knowing that’s not possible. I feel like that’s a message that many people think about, and it’s a great song so go give it a listen!

Take Me to the Light by Francis and the Lights ft. Bon Iver and Kanye West

Compared to the first song, this one is more chill. I love listening to this song when I’m driving with the windows down or hanging out with my friends. I was surprised when I saw this song show up on my playlist because I had never heard of the main artist. It also seemed weird to me that Kanye and Bon Iver would be in a song together, but I chose to just roll with it. Thank goodness I did because this song is amazing. I would describe this song as one that you would hold up lighters to at a concert but also jump around if that makes sense? Idk just listen to it.

Blur by MØ ft. Foster The People

Before this I only knew one song by MØ and it was her most popular one. I found this song last year on my new releases playlist and I decided to listen to it more for Foster The People. I ended up loving it and it sparked my love for MØ music. It starts out sort of slower with guitar music, but it speeds up as the chorus comes and you hear the pop/electronic sound that MØ incorporates into many of her songs. Having Foster The People featured also makes the song interesting becuase they have more of an indie rock sound. If you like either of these artists this is definitely a song for you.

Happy Man by Jungle

I had never heard anything by this artist before this song. It is so different from anything I listen to which is why I love it. It gives me a jazzy vibe and makes me want to snap and just hop around. In my opinion, it’s like the only good song by this artist but I’m also not a music expert so take that with a grain of salt. I think this song is all about this guy making changes in his life and doing new things but I also have no idea if that’s correct. I love listening to this song before I go out because it really pumps me up, and I recommend you all do the same.

Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings by Father John Misty

This song is very different from the four above. It is darker and less fun. I assume you gathered that by the songs name though. It’s still one of my favorites because it’s just a good song. There are a lot of symbol sounds and electric guitar in the song so it has more of a rock vibe. I honestly just like this song purely for the sound. The meaning of the song is weird but if you ignore that it’s a pretty great song.

Well those are some of my favorite songs that I’ve found on my New Releases playlist. I hope you all go give them a listen, but more importantly, go listen to your own New Releases playlist if you don’t already! It’s a great place to find songs by artists you listen to that may be underrated.
