10 Things to Do Before the Warm Weather Goes Away

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at DePauw chapter.

As the hot days diminish and colder ones arrive, here are a few things you should do before the hot days disappear!

ICE CREAM- Although this is a treat good all year round, it’s probably your last chance to eat it in the smoldering sun as quickly as you can before it melts!

The pool– One last dip before the air gets so cold you’re freezing with a parka on; strip down to your suit and dive in!

Go to a lake/beach– The hottest time of the year is wrapping up, and although Florida can provide the beach scene for most of the year, for those of us who live in the colder states one last trip on a boat can be just the pick-me-up you need to embrace the cold.

Amusement parks– For those thrill-seeking people, head to the park for belly rolling and lots of fried foods.

Laying out– The rays will disappear soon, so be sure to catch the last few by taking a tanning day and laying out!

Backyard football– Quality family time throwing around the old pigskin can be ruined by the crippling cold, so get in a few plays while the weather’s still warm.

Restaurant patios– Go for a night out and chose to sit outside! Patios will be closing soon and a meal under the stars can be romantic and delicious!

Outdoor shopping– Hit up your favorite outdoor stores before you have to wear a parka and run from door to door to avoid the crippling cold.

Go on a hike– Breathe in the fresh air and rummage through the green leaves; soon they will all be brown and crunchy, so get out there and enjoy nature!

Barbeque– One last fling while it’s still warm enough to sustain standing to grill. Meat or veggies are your choice, but don’t forget the watermelon and dessert!

I grew up in Columbus, Ohio and have been doing dance, gymnastics, and cheerleading for as long as I can remember. I have been a lifeguard for six years. I am a member of the Alpha chapter of Alpha Chi Omega here at DePauw. I have cheered on the tigers for football and basketball seasons for the last three years. I am a Biology major and my dream job is to become a pediatric nurse. I will be going to nursing school after I graduate from DePauw.
