House. Techno. Dubstep. EDM. These are all terms used to describe electronic music. Although electronic music is growing in popularity, the good stuff is rarely heard on the radio. Many people shy away from EDM because they think it’s just “beep-boop” noises, but it is actually a wildly broad genre of music with something for everyone. So even if you are not an avid EDM listener, at least give these 10 songs a try. They are guaranteed to make your body move. It is a stressful time, and everyone can use a little dance party every now and then!

Could U by Griz

If you are a fan of Griz, this song might surprise you. “Could U” by Griz is his first step into making house music. From the start of the song, the quick picks of the guitar accompanied by the steady baseline creates a rhythmic feel that will draw you to any open space. Between the smooth vocals and the sunny, fun energy of the song, Griz’s track is a certified dancefloor smash. “Could U” dance all night to this?

Role Models by Walker & Royce (Feat. OnCue)

For those of you who think EDM is just computer noises, Walker & Royce’s hit “Role Models” of their debut album Self Help is far from your typical EDM song. The highly talented OnCue joins this song to add a catchy hook and powerful verses. It sounds like a song that could be widely played on any Top 40 radio station. With the combination of OnCue’s rapping and Walker & Royce’s flawless production, this song would make an entire festival worth of people dance. It is definitely a volume all the way up, dance around your room kind of song!

Not Techno by i_o

“I just wanna go downtown…to some warehouse….late night…see them strobe lights.” If the lyrics of this song don’t make you want to dress up and go to an underground rave, I don’t know will. “Not Techno” by I_o is a gritty, hard, techno song (even if the title says is isn’t). Listen closely to the snares in this song, as the rhythmic “tic tic tic” of the hi-hats pull you faster and faster into the song. Whether this makes you dance or not, you’ll still have the catchy lyrics stuck in your head.

Money by CID

“Money” by CID is the perfect encapsulation of what house music is at its core— the 4-on-the-floor beat, matched with a silly, fun sample, as well as the peppering of random sounds. The whole song, from the upbeat buildup at the start to the rolling basslines throughout, keeps your feet moving. As CID says in the song, “the best things in life are free” and dancing to this song is definitely one of the best things!

Attitude by AC Slater & Taiki Nulight (Bushbaby Remix)

From across the pond, Bushbaby has created a creative remix of AC Slater’s track “Attitude.” From the start, you can hear his connection to the UK’s popular Drum and Bass scene. The hi-hats in the start of the song are fast and powerful. You will find yourself bobbing your head or tapping your feet as each snare sounds.

No Good by Dr. Fresch & Sinden

Unfortunately, this song is about something most of you ladies can relate to. It has lyrics you’re going to want to scream at the top of your lungs with your friends or maybe even at that guy you’re stuck on. It has a beat that will make your body groove. The synths in this song provide a happy “wub wub wub” that pair quite well with the catchy hook. The drums in this song provide the 4-on-the-floor of every house song. There is really “No Bad” way to dance to this.

Soul Sacrifice by Dombresky

While the title of Dombresky’s club-room stomper seems ominous— this song is far from it. This song is the perfect summer track. The addition of the trumpet in this song gives it an upbeat Jazz vibe. The lyrics are reminiscent of the late 90s-early 2000s R&B sound. It is the perfect song to jam out to by the pool or in your car with all the windows down.

Our Time by Barris Fishman (Feat. Brennan Kolar)

When looking for truly underground music, do not sleep on Barris Fishman. His Soundcloud has become one of my favorites ever since I discovered it. It is full of groovy house tracks, ranging from minimal to club bangers. Listen to this song with headphones— you will be able to feel it move, grow, shrink and build as it runs through your brain. The song is so fresh that it will have you feeling more alive after listening to it. Brennan Kolar’s voice fills the rooms, from the simple “oooohs” to the massive, haunting chorus. Barris Fishman’s “Our Time” is the perfect encapsulation of underground EDM with its perfect combination of beautiful vocals and a beat that urges you to move your feet. Check this out, if you’re in the mood to vibe out.

Keep Raving by Wax Motif

Don’t let the build up at the start of the song mislead you— this song will keep you raving. Wax Motif uses a bold synth right before the drop to take this song from hip-shaker to ground-shaker. The fake drop leading into the powerful synth buildup is the catalyst for this song. Once it starts going, it cannot be stopped, which is how you will feel on the dancefloor. More importantly, listen closely to the lyrics. It is the perfect quarantine banger!

All for the Gram by Walker & Royce

Walker & Royce makes their second appearance on this list (even though this could have been 10 songs by this duo). Yet, this song feels much different than the first. “All For the Gram” has all your elements of a great house song: fun lyrics, great beat and the feeling of not knowing what is coming next. This song features strong female vocals that pair well over this grimy beat. This track might just inspire your next Insta post!
