Selena Gomez: actor, singer, model, and overall a beautiful person. From her days as Alex on Wizards of Waverly Place to releasing her new music (which is boppin’), Gomez has served as an amazing role model and a seemingly chill person. Recently, she was in the news for posting a heartfelt thank you and explanation on her Instagram of her and her friend, Francia Raísa, who donated her kidney to Gomez. Selena Gomez has lupus, which, as the National Resource Center on Lupus explains, “is a chronic autoimmune disease that can damage any part of the body.” She explained in her post she “needed to get a transplant due to [her] Lupus and was recovering” over the summer.

This inspiring moment simply reminded me, as it should everyone, the amazing person that Selena Gomez is. She recently made an Instagram post defending the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), stating in the screenshotted image from her iPhone notes, “My definition of a dreamer is someone that thinks big and believes anything is possible. The wonderful people being threatened by the unfortunate reversal of DACA are exactly that.” Then, urging fans to call their representatives to “let your voice be heard to defend DACA!” On top of this, Gomez has been a UNICEF Ambassador since 2009, as stated by the official UNICEF website. There is literally nothing you can’t love about her. If by this point you aren’t listening to the “This Is: Selena Gomez” playlist on Spotify, you obviously have not been paying attention to this article. Selena Gomez is a true queen and deserves so much better than people to still try to talk to her about Justin Bieber.
