DIY: Pumpkin Spice, My Face Feels Nice

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at DePaul chapter.
It seems we can’t mention fall without mentioning pumpkin. Lattes, candles, pies, and jack o’ lanterns—pumpkin is the mascot of October.

But did you know pumpkin (loaded with Vitamins A and C) could heal and moisturize your skin by removing dead skin cells?

Take a break from midterms, open your pantry, and get ready to bump up your pumpkin intake for a fall glow in return.

Pumpkin Facial Ingredients:
  • 1 Cup of Brown Sugar (Light or Dark)
  • 1 Teaspoon ground Cinnamon
  • 1 Tablespoon Pumpkin puree (cooked or canned)
  • 1⁄2 Cup of Coconut Oil (I prefer the solid rather than the liquid, however both work)
  • The zest of one orange

Directions:
  • Mix all the ingredients in a bowl
  • Apply to clean, damp skin avoiding the eye area (it’s a tad messy, so I do this over a sink)
  • Rub the mix gently on your face in circular motions
  • Allow the mask sit on your face for about 10-15 minutes (During this time, just relax)
  • Rinse with warm (not hot) water, and pat your face dry with a clean towel

I was inspired to try this face mask/scrub last fall, and I have been using it ever since! I promise, you will see results in how your skin looks and feels. And best of all, you won’t break the bank!
