5 Ways To Actually Stick To Your New Year’s Resolutions

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at DePaul chapter.

If you’re like me, you have a lot of goals in mind come New Year’s. But, you can never stick to them to the point where your goals are actually fulfilled. Luckily, there are a few ways to help you go further than you normally would when it comes to keeping your resolutions:

1. Ask Someone To Help You

When it comes to doing things on your own, you might have trouble sticking to the regimen and want to skip a day or two. Instead, have a friend or family member keep you accountable every day by texting or motivating you in person. You can even ask them to come up with consequences in case you forget to do your daily tasks.

2. Create A Resolution Board

Being able to see your goals through images every day can increase motivation by a ton! To make this, take a cork, dry-erase, or chalk board and decorate it to your liking. Make sure to add a lot of pictures that inspire you, and don’t forget to change them out every once in awhile! You can also add messages and quotes. (See one here)

3.  Talk To Yourself

This may seem weird at first, but physically speaking aloud to yourself can change your mindset completely! Tell yourself that you want to stop eating junk food or that you like waking up early to exercise. Try it out; it might make the biggest difference!

4.  Have Daily, Weekly, and Monthly Goals

Setting short and long-term goals for yourself can keep you on track and on your way to your bigger goal. Make sure to make them challenging, yet possible, and start off small. Every time you complete your daily task or accomplish a goal, reward yourself with something you like!

5. Track Your Accomplishments

Nothing makes me more motivated than seeing my own personal progress! Take pictures or keep a log of your everyday accomplishments so you can look back and realize how far you’ve come!

The most important tip, though, is to never give up! Make 2017 the best it can be!
