Since spring break is approaching (and I don’t have any exciting destinations in my schedule), I decided to label my week home as “rejuvenation week”. After a few overwhelming weeks of a heavy workload, I realized that spending my break at home would be the perfect time to heal, relax, and reset… Here’s what I have planned:

  1. Since the weather will be getting warmer, I decided to make myself a hair appointment. Healthy change is beneficial for the soul, and returning to college with a new cut and color might bring some much-needed excitement back into my appearance! If you’re contemplating on changing your hair, I say go for it. Sometimes even the slightest change can lift your spirits.

  2. I want to give my skin and nails a break. I have gotten into the habit of a daily makeup application and a weekly nail change… While these things are perfectly acceptable, I want to let my skin breathe over break; I want to keep it clean and hydrated. I plan on looking for some more natural, healthy beauty brands to experiment with this spring. In terms of my nails, I want them to have the ability to grow and become stronger without the preventative shield of gel, glue, or polish. Sunlight is very beneficial for your nails, so I plan to let them breathe for a while.

  3. Since I have found a new sense of independence in college, I want to push myself to go places on my own. My friends from highschool will not be home at the same time as me, so I can use this week of solitude as a way to bring my independence home with me. It is extremely liberating to accomplish things on your own; I’m excited to reunite with my hometown independently.

  4. I want to spend time with my family. This first year of college has shown me how important quality family time is. I plan on using this week of rejuvenation to catch up with my family members. I’m excited for the conversations with my uncles, the playdates with my younger cousins, and the movie nights with my parents. After being away at school, I have found a deep appreciation for these moments with my loved ones.

  5. Finally, I am so excited for some much-needed dog therapy. While the occasional spotting of a dog on campus is nice, I am looking forward to spending some quality time with my furbaby. I want to take her out each day, enjoy the weather together, play with her toys, and cuddle together. Dogs have a special quality of lifting your emotional state, and they are exceptionally good at keeping you company when you just don’t have the energy to be social.
