Well, it’s a new year, so here’s a new list! My goal with this one is to list five YouTube Creators I enjoy and want everyone else to enjoy. The trick is that each one is from a different genre of online content. Also, these are in no particular order. Just check ‘em out if you have the chance!

  1. Overly Sarcastic Productions (Educational)

SparkNotes is so High School! If you want to learn about literature and history in a comedic and insightful way. Check these guys out! Red, the resident literary scholar and Blue, the resident history buff, (their aliases on the channel based on their eye color as cartoons) create informative and often animated videos that really make learning fun! (They do swear a lot so maybe don’t show them to your 7th grade English class)

Here’s one of my favorite videos they’ve made!

  1. Miles Aaron McKenna/MilesChronicles (LGBTQIA+)

The LGBTQIA+ community thrives on YouTube. Miles Aaron McKenna creates peak meme worthy content about gender and internet culture, and homophobia, and also has multiple videos about how to come out and be gay in High School. He’s super open about his transition process, and also went on tour recently to spread the love! Check him out if you’re in the need of a primo meme or to learn about one guy’s journey towards his identity.

  1. Door Monster (Comedy)

Nerds- we’re everywhere. Get used to it. While you’re at it, you might as well get a laugh out of it. Door Monster have created over 400 videos about D&D, video games, comics, and even fortune cookies! Sharp wit, great bits, and some pretty nice camera work make this group one you don’t want to miss!

  1. James A. Janisse/Dead Meat (Film/Horror)

Dear reader, I cannot lie to you. I HATED horror movies. I truly couldn’t stomach them until I started watching this channel. While he’s mostly known for a longstanding series known as The Kill Count where, according to Janisse, “we tally up the victims in all our favorite horror movies.” Essentially, he goes through the entire film and shows all of the people who get attacked, as well as summarizing the story in a clear and hilarious manner. Besides this series, Janisse also gets together with his girlfriend Chelsea Rebecca to create a podcast that shares the channel’s name, where they discuss horror tropes and iconic films. Check him out if you’re interested in filmmaking or spooky times!

  1. Binging with Babish (Food)

What? Did you think I’d make a post on the internet without talking about food? As if! To round out the list, Binging with Babish is all about making your favorite movie munchies come to life. He’s done everything from Kronk’s Spinach Puffs from The Emperor’s New Groove to Cannoli from The Godfather! Not only does he make famous food, he also teaches you how to cook with his series Basics with Babish. To top it all off, he has, hands down, one of the best voices I’ve ever heard. Get ready to learn and get hungry.
