This week’s Campus Celebrity is none other than Giancarlo Vita. Giancarlo is a junior, communication and Spanish double major, originally from Panama. He’s a Posse Scholar from Chicago (Denison Posse 13!). He is also the president of DCGA and chair for the Campus Affairs Council.
What is your favorite thing about Denison?
I love the people I’ve met here. I’ve encountered people from all over, with all kinds of backgrounds and differences, which have inspired me to explore new thoughts and be critical of the world. Fall is also pretty nice here.
What is the last book you read? (not school books!)
The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway.
Where do you see yourself in ten years? What would you like to be doing?
In ten years, I’ll be working in a hands-on and motivating job. Interacting with people and travelling are my major interests so that’d be pretty cool to do as a living.
How does it feel to be President of DCGA?
It’s a lot of work. That was pretty much what I was expecting when coming into this year. There’s a huge time commitment that comes with this job, but I’ve figured out how to balance my academics, DCGA, and having time to also relax and enjoying my time on the hill.

My right thumb is a hitchhiker thumb. My left one is a toe thumb. You can’t un-see it.
What is your life motto/philosophy?
Appreciate the little things in life, bring a smile to someone’s face everyday, and be chill.
Who is your idol?
It’d have to be a combination of Jim Carrey for his sense of humor and Ricky Bobby for his blind confidence and determination.
What are you most passionate about?
I’m passionate about basic things like: dogs, food, and pumpkin spice lattes.
If you could be anywhere, doing anything right now, what would it be and where would you be?
I would be hiking in Peru, but more reasonably somewhere out West like Utah or Colorado.
What’s your dream job?
Owning my own business. Ideas for my business are too radical for now. I’ll explain if Taco Dan becomes Mayor.
How would your best friend describe you?
Occasionally chill.

A nice dinner followed by something spontaneous or new.
