Fundraising isn’t always easy, but most of the time it is necessary.  Yet, with all of the same types of fundraising going on around campus, it can be difficult for your organization, club, etc., to stand out among the rest. When it comes down to it, just how many clichéd Main Street Fundraisers are there per year, and how many do you actually go to? Students are, frankly, growing tired of the same food, crowds, and hassle of getting to these fundraisers in the first place.

What if we told you there is a new, more efficient, and simple way to fundraise, all at the click of your computer? What’s more, student groups, sports teams, charities, RSO’s and other nonprofits are becoming aware of the world of online fundraising through the company Greater Good Ventures.

The companies’ two endeavors, ClassClick and GreaterClick, allow schools, sports teams, charities, churches, libraries and other not-for-profits to raise money by selling magazine subscriptions online using email campaigns.

This new source of fundraising is easy to use, always on, and most importantly costs nothing to set up. All students have to do is sign-up through the site, make an online campaign for their cause, and send out emails with the link to the campaign site, where customers select the magazines they want to buy or renew and the cause they want to help. Once supporters place orders, half of the proceeds go to the nonprofit. Supporters would be renewing their favorite magazine subscriptions and at the same time they are donating to student organizations or charities.

Morgan West, who’s in charge of Public Relations for the CMAA Blue Hen Chapter, says: “These organizations present another option for people to donate to a cause that isn’t a cut and dry check. They get something out of it too.”

And Megan, a Campus Ambassador here at UD for the organization Greater Click, says: “GreaterClick is great for any event, like UDance or Relay For Life, where teams are trying to raise a certain amount of money. It’s just so easy. Everything is online, and then a check is sent to you after the campaign is done. No paperwork!”

We’ll leave you with this thought: roughly half of all the money we spend right now on magazine subscriptions—$5 billion a year— could be going to support our favorite charities and nonprofit organizations.  Check out GreaterClick or ClassClick incorporate it into your schedule of fundraising events!

Sara studies at the University of Delaware (go blue hens!), and absolutely loves it. She is currently studying communications and english with a professional writing concentration. and is fostering a developing interest in public relations after having been introduced to the field through the Public Relations Student Society of America at UD. That has inspired her to concentrate in public relations in the future, though she is a firm believer in getting a well-rounded education and taking a bunch of classes in various subjects. Wherever her education takes her, Sara has always had a passion for writing and will continue her writing in any way possible throughout the remainder of her college years and beyond! Born in New York City, she appreciates and is preparing for the fast paced lifestyle of a city girl, but enjoys the more relaxed nature of her hometown on the Jersey Shore (though she is not affiliated in any way with the cast of MTV’s Jersey Shore). Only minutes from the beach, Sara tries not to take the beautiful atmosphere for granted. Similarly, she tries not to take anything else in her life for granted, and in this sense, prides herself on her strong work ethic. She believes that when life gets tough, it’s only because something great is on the horizon. She adores music, her family and friends, movies, writing, magazines, and travel. Sara cannot wait to see what else college has in store for her, and is ready to take more risks and live with no regrets. She is beyond thrilled to be part of the Her Campus team, and looks forward to writing and editing content that focuses on an audience of college women dedicated to achieving their aspirations.
