The oh-so-common dinner and drinks combination is gold but it’s old. Whether you are blushing over a new crush or planning another rendezvous in your current relationship, you may be in need of some exciting and different date ideas, and this is the place for you.

Trade the usual pints or glass of house wine in for some signature cocktails. The Drury Buildings in Dublin City Centre will not disappoint you with their ‘The Salted Caramel Martini’. It is a mix of vanilla infused Absolut Vodka, caramel syrup, freshly brewed coffee, milk, sea salt and is a step up from your regular espresso martini. The venue itself is also stunning as they have a heated terrace covered in both fairy lights and candles.

The cinema is such a great option for date night and there are many ways to make it that little bit different.  If you really love Odeon’s half price Wednesday’s you could bring not only your own sweets but, also a little hip flask and create a ‘Ginema’ evening. If you would like a new location entirely, opt for the outdoor movies that are held at Leopardstown Racecourse for their ‘Retro Drive In’ nights. The Sugar Club is another great place which plays plenty of films, both old and new. The small theatre has personal tables, couches and a bar at the back of the room, serving gourmet popcorn and pizzas throughout the movie. The Stellar Theatre in Rathmines is another similar location who not only have sofas, but beds as well where you can lay and enjoy the film.

If you are on a budget but not willing to sacrifice the fun, BYOB activities are perfect. The Leisureplex in Coolock, Tallaght and Stillorgan have evenings every Friday from 9pm-Midnight where you can provide your own drinks and play bowling or use the arcade rooms. Hideout on South William Street is a building full of snooker tables which has the same idea, and could even make for a night where you double date and have some competition between pairs.

Coffee dates or simply an afternoon together can have that extra bit of sweetness added to it by visiting the Beanhive Cafe on Dawson Street, who are known for their beautiful artwork that they create on top of their hot drinks. Each picture that they draw is unique and they range from flowers to skylines, portraits to cartoon characters and everything in between.

Finally, if you are looking for entertainment, then look no further. The Glitter Hole is a ‘DIY drag collective and a queer feminist performance space’. It is a great night to enjoy music, comedy sketches, poetry and a lot of dancing. Those who take part are extremely talented and hysterically funny so you will have plenty of laughs throughout the evening.

Hope you try out some of these ideas out and have a fabulous time making dates great again.
