Bringing yourself on a date has grown in popularity over the various lockdowns this year. The trend began during the very first lockdown back in March 2020 and has since exploded on Youtube, Tiktok and other social media. Bringing yourself on a date can benefit your mental health as it allows you to take time out of your schedule to focus on yourself and do something that you enjoy.

These acts of self-care can improve self-esteem, lower stress and anxiety levels and give you a much-needed break from the ongoing stresses of daily life.

Here are the 10 best ways to take yourself on a date during lockdown:

Heading on a walk with a picnic is a great way to destress and have some you time. Pack a bag, bring some snacks for the journey and a book to stop off in a quiet place and reconnect with yourself. If you live in a town you could stop off at the local coffee shop and grab yourself a coffee and relax.

What better way to chill out than to have a movie night? Light some candles, put on your pyjamas and stick your favourite series or a movie on. This can be a great way to wind down before bed and enjoy your own company.

Take yourself on a day-long date of absolute pampering and have a spa day. Relax, put on some comfy clothes, put a hair and face mask on and get yourself feeling fresh and fantastic!

Cooking yourself a meal might not be for everyone but, cooking in the kitchen can be very therapeutic. Pick a recipe that you have never tried but you feel like you will love and enjoy the process.

We can sometimes let the world around us pass us by, so take this time to be a tourist in your own area. While on holiday we can be so excited about seeing all the tourist destinations around but can forget to see the places that are in our own area. Take some time to explore your hometown.

Take your camera outside for a photoshoot and snap pictures of anything you find beautiful. This can really help us appreciate our surroundings.

Is there something you’ve always wanted to do but felt you didn’t have the time or the courage? Now is a great time to check something off your bucket list. Take this opportunity to do something different.

Go for a drive, turn the music up and sing at the top of your lungs with no guilt. This can be a great way to relieve stress and have some you time.

Why not redecorate your bedroom? A clear space can have so many positive impacts on your emotional state. Reorganising your space can clear your head and help you start fresh.

Treat yourself to a bunch of flowers or a plant that you really love because you deserve it. You can make this a regular thing to bring something bright and beautiful into your home.

Now is a good time to focus on yourself and become the best version of you that you can be. Take time to relax and think about what you deserve in your relationships by creating new experiences for yourself and what better way to start than taking yourself on a date.
