CBD oil is the new trend in the wellness world, and it’s famous for its anti-anxiety, anti-inflammatory and pain cancelling health benefits. While CBD comes from the cannabis plant, it does not get you high. You can vape it, drink it as a tea or hot chocolate. You can apply it as a lip balm, moisturiser or mascara. You can drink it in your tea and coffee.

There is still stigma surrounding CBD oil and products, however this is due to misinformation around the plant and whether or not it contains THC, the principal euphoria-inducing psychoactive agent in cannabis.

Cannabis oil, specifically, is one of the major cannabinoids in the cannabis plant, out of a total of more than 110 in the plant. It’s also found in hemp. CBD is not psychoactive in the same way THC is, so it won’t make you high. CBD oil can be used in reducing the amount of seizures in patients with epilepsy and Ireland has approved 12 patients to purchase CBD oil from companies in the Netherlands. However, with multiple CBD stores in Ireland, these 12 patients can access CBD online with the click of a button.

CBD oil is also beneficial in relieving pain for chronic illnesses such as multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia and arthritis because of its anti-inflammatory compounds.  This is a way of controlling pain relief naturally instead of taking pharmaceutical drugs. These drugs also have addictive principles which worries some people therefore CBD is an effective way to stay away from harmful chemicals.

Anxiety and depression can also be treated using cannabis products because of its calming properties. It has been proven to help manage panic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, generalized anxiety disorder and mild to moderate depression.

When it comes to consuming CBD, Ireland opened its first cannabis cafe is Waterford called Blooms Cafe. For this cafe to be legal, they must have THC levels of 0.2 per cent. Although customers are not allowed to smoke the herbal products, they are allowed to add it to their coffee orders. The current menu offers four different strains of cannabis and owners say that will be constantly adding new strains to the menu.

The problem with CBD is that it has been tested on animals in some countries to determine its effects, however there are many Vegan CBD products available where animal abuse is not a factor in its manufacturing.

CBD can act as an antioxidant in skin care products which protects against UV rays, the effects of bad eating habits and dehydration on the skin. Brands that you might see in Boots such as The Body Shop and MGC Derma have products that come from the hemp plant in skin care products, shampoo and even scented candles.

Cannabis is still illegal in Ireland however this once conservative country is opening up to the possibility of cannabis being fully legalised in Ireland, but for now we can rely on a wide range of legal CBD products for sale across the country.
