Top Brands that are Supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Breast Cancer Awareness Month, is an annual international health campaign organized by major breast cancer charities every October. It is a month dedicated to encourage women of all ages to become more ‘breast aware’. Breast Cancer Research Ireland describes this as the knowledge of ‘what should feel normal for you, that way if any changes occur you will recognise them much sooner.’

Each October, events are held worldwide to promote this awareness, helping to fundraise towards life-saving breast cancer research. This month, major fashion brands got behind the campaign to show their support. The usual Autumn/Winter trends, patterns and colour pallets have been put aside as the focus turns to pink.

Ralph Lauren has been consistently prominent in the fight against breast cancer since the 2002 launch of their Pink Pony Campaign. They provide support to programs that carry many functions – from screenings and early diagnosis to treatment and education. The 2018 Pink Pony Collection carries a variety of crew necks, scarves, hats and jackets, all in a dusty pink shade. 25% of the profits received from each of the pieces sold will be given to a wide range of charities.

Brahmin is another familiar face when it comes to supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The accessory brand have ensured that 5% of their net sales from selected products will be provided to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. New Balance’s activewear label, have promised to donate 5% of each of their sales, directly to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. The brand have also guaranteed a minimum donation of $500,000.

The Breast Cancer Research Foundation will be supported by many brands this month. Sam Edelman will be contributing 20% of each of their sales of the Tinsley rubber boots, Nina Runsdorf will be donating 15% of each sale of her stunning Pink Topaz Flip Ring and Beyond Yoga are guaranteeing the charity 10% of the proceeds from all pink styles found on the website.  Koral, another activewear label will be contributing 25% of the sales from the Advance Versatility Bra, the Lustrous Capri Leggings and the Villa Tencel Jersey Tanktowards the Keep A Breast Foundation.

Tamara Mellon is taking a unique approach to show her support this month. Mellon will be providing a free mammogram to women from an on-the-road check up centre or a ‘mobile mammogram’, reminding everyone how important it is to be regularly tested. Graphic t-shirts will also be handed out carrying a slogan that reads “Love Your Mellons”

Many more brands have been getting involved in Breast Cancer Awareness Month and you can too. If you are looking to make a difference, be sure to let the women in your life know about receiving regular checks and to know what is normal for them. You can also help to fundraise through Paint it Pink with the Irish Cancer Society or by hosting a coffee morning in conjunction with Cups Against Cancer and so much more!
