January can be a bit of a downer, especially with the grey weather and dark evenings. College is back too, meaning we’re skint & spending long days in the library (hello, thesis!)  Naturally we’re all craving a holiday. So here are some tips and tricks on how to be boujie on a budget.

Ryanair travel sale

Keep an eye on Ryanair’s website in early Jan, cause those sales are not to be missed. They usually curate an edit with loads of destinations under a specific theme – think ’city breaks for under twenty quid’, ‘see the USA in summer’. If you catch these deals, you can manage to bag yourself a sweet flight on a budget!

Be bag savvy

A big part of Ryanair’s policy is how can we charge the customers as much money?? So once you’ve selected your cute twenty quid flight to Rome, next comes the bag options. Can you put two days worth of clothes into a Longchamp Le Pliage tote? If not, that’ll be another twenty five quid, each way, par favor. Then there is that blasted seat charge. Now, there are ways around this. If you are savvy about it, you can most definitely squeeze a two day trip out of a large handbag. In a squeeze, I have done Amsterdam in a large tote bag. Another way to evade high costs would be to split the twenty five (50 for return) for the suitcase and share a suitcase.

Travel pages are your best friend

This is an often overlooked tip but can be super handy. There are a million and one travel pages out there, all simply bursting with good deals. Of course we’ve all heard of Rory’s Travel Club, which has been super popular recently. It is subscription based, but if you’re serious about a wee holiday you’ll find something to suit you there. If you would rather not commit to a subscription, @ireland.travel.deals on Instagram seems a worthy replacement. They post new offers regularly, ranging from Irish staycations to sunny beach getaways and even multiple location trips. Spoilt for choice!

So there you have it, some tips and tricks to help you save some money on your next trip. Now, go forth and book those deals!
