Lost–Season 1, Episode 1: Freshman & Afraid

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Davidson chapter.

“You can’t get lost on Davidson’s campus!” they said . . .

“Yeah, it’s all brick, but it’s very small and easy to get around!” they said . . .

Well, two weeks into my first year I am here to tell you, THEY LIED!

On the first day, I found my Humanities classroom super easily. However, our entire class showed up in the wrong room AND the wrong building. Of course, we didn’t figure this out until thirty minutes in. Then, we had to make a stop at the Registrar’s office AND had to pile into an elevator (all 16 of us) before finding the lecture hall and our professor.  It was a travesty, to say the least.

After that catastrophe, I figured I knew my way around and things probably would go up from there. But I was sooooo wrong.

After arriving in the correct room, we found 50 other students and heard a whopping 10 minutes of lecture before class ended. A great way to start my college education, right???

AND, my advisor witnessed the entire fiasco. Before class ended, he sent me an email saying that he hoped I found my class–another great first impression.

Since this disaster, I wish I could say that I haven’t been lost again . . . butttt I would be lying if I said it doesn’t consistently take me 11 minutes to find an exit in Chambers . . .

or that I don’t occasionally walk confidently into the men’s bathroom . . .

or that walking up or down the hill to/from Belk doesn’t leave me feeling entirely disoriented.

But I can 1000% say that I absolutely love Davidson in spite of its million identical buildings, and I wouldn’t want to be lost anywhere else.
