Best Places to Eat in and Around Davidson on a College Budget

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Davidson chapter.

I’m always looking for some new, interesting places to eat, so whenever I find somewhere that I can leave full for less than $10 I get excited. Of course, there are all the chains and fast food places to eat at for cheap, but this list is (generally) unique to the Davidson area.

Sangam Indian Cuisine (Exit 28)

Sangam is some of the best Indian food around, hands down. Go for lunch. It is $8.95 for a full, all-you-can-eat Indian buffet from 11:30-2.

Publix (Exit 28)

Any Publix lover swears by the Pub Subs as a tasty, comfort lunch that will set you back somewhere from $7-10. Since Publix is also a normal, functioning grocery store there are also lots of other foods you can choose from, plus a full coffee bar.

Thai Thai Café (drive north on Main Street until you see it)

I love the Thai Thai Café. The Pad Thai is honestly to die for, as are the curries, and also everything else on their menu. You get a full meal plus a day of leftovers from their entrees, which are around $10 and feed the stomach and the soul.

Zapatas (Exit 28)

Is there anything to dislike about free chips, salsa, and Mexican menu items under $10? Plus, Zapatas offers an additional 20% off for Davidson students with your CatCard.

Alinos (drive north on Main Street until you see it)

If you haven’t heard of or been to Alinos, stop what you are doing and go right now. Alinos is great for group dinners and sharing pizzas (definitely share since, if you don’t, you’ll have a massive pizza and also spend twice what you should). Prepare to pay around $10.

Pho Nam (Exit 28)

Holy Vietnamese goodness I am going to miss this place after I graduate. If you are a first-time patron of Pho Nam I would definitely recommend the Pho soup, pictured above and costing about $8.

Pisces (Exit 36)

Here’s another all-you-can-eat lunch for this list, but this time it’s all you can eat sushi for $10. Pisces is high quality sushi too, voted some of the best in the area, so you can rest easy knowing that you won’t get sick…unless you eat too much.
