10 Ways to Get Your Pumpkin On

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Davidson chapter.

It’s almost October, which means it’s pumpkin season. I know I’m not the only one excited about this. I hate to be the stereotypical PSL-loving white girl… except screw that: pumpkin spice lattes are delicious, pumpkins are adorable, and I’m gonna celebrate the onset of autumn any which way I choose, thank you very much. This is by far my favorite season. For your reading pleasure, a list of 10 ways to pumpkin up your October.

#1: Pumpkin Spice Latte. Yeah, duh, I know. But Summit’s making their own now!!! I haven’t tried it yet, but I am grossly excited.

#2: Pumpkin bread. Trader Joe’s sells an awesome mix that makes delicious muffins too.

#3: Pumpkin socks. Fall means colder weather. Cold means socks. Get some damn pumpkins on those guys.

#4: Pumpkin jewelry. Applicable until the end of November! It’s the perfect time to splurge! My friend just told me pumpkin accessories are “a lot,” but I’m still a fan.

Etsy has a lot of good options

#5: Go to a pumpkin patch! My freshman year, my friends and I had a veritable photoshoot in a pumpkin patch and I still have the pictures up on my wall.

#6: Carve a pumpkin! Or paint one! Usually Union Board does some sort of fall pumpkin painting event, so fingers crossed for that again.

#7: Pumpkin Dunkin. I’ve had an impossible amount of Dunkin Donuts since DD rolled into town, but I am 100% sure they’re going to have a special pumpkin donut soon.

#8: Pumpkin pie. I know it’s not for two months, but I am already gearing up for Commons Thanksgiving. But you can also make your own pie if you’d like. Or buy it somewhere. Just get some pie, okay.

#9. Tiny decorative pumpkins! Get some cute lil pumpkins for your windowsill. They’re tiny. They’re inexpensive. They’re adorable. Unrelated to pumpkins, but get a mini gourd too, too. They’re so cute! They’ll make you feel so festive!!

#10. Pumpkin seeds. They’re delicious. If you’re carving a pumpkin you can save the seeds and roast them and salt them, or you can just buy some from the store. But they’re so yummy. Go forth and pumpkin.

Happy pumpkining, everyone!
