The month is May and Mother’s Day is quickly approaching. Every year I spend hours pouring over Pinterest to find the perfect gift idea for my amazing mother, while still wanting to add a personal touch. This year, I’m here to save you those hours- below are the best gift ideas for mother’s day, ranging from sentimental DIYs to delicious subscription boxes.

DIY Gift Basket

Start with a cute basket. You can pick up a wicker, woven, or cloth basket at almost any dollar store or retail store. Bonus points if it’s a basket your mom can reuse after the gift! Add her favorite food items- these can be store bought or homemade, whatever you think she’ll like best! Ideas include cookies, chocolates, fruit, chocolate-covered fruit, ect.. Next add spa/selfcare items. Give your mom the night off that she deserves with bath salts, face masks, perfumed lotions, or soothing candles. Get corny and throw in some “Best Mom” items! Whether it’s a mug, a wine glass, a pair of socks, or a keychain, it’s sure to put a smile on your mom’s face.

For the Foodie

If your mother is a lover of all things food, you have plenty of options- the easiest being a gift certificate to her favorite restaurant. Want to be more creative? Purchase all the necessary ingredients for your mom’s favorite meal and cook it for her! Just make sure you don’t forget the dessert. Want a gift that lasts? Sign her up for a food box subscription. There are endless types of boxes you can purchase, ranging from full meals to fruit displays to sweet bakery items. Choose a box you know your mom will love and give the gift that keeps on giving.

Sentimental Keepsakes

Have some time to comb through old family photos? Then you should absolutely gift your mom with a sentimental keepsake. You can create your own – some ideas include a photo album (you can caption the photos for that extra touch!), a framed collage, coasters (mod podge saves the day here), or a simple card! Another route is to send your photos to a company (Shutterfly and Etsy are websites that come to mind) and have them print your photos for you! You can give a personalized blanket, mug, wine glass, wall hanging, or shirt! The possibilities are endless here, and your mom will be sure to appreciate the nostalgic gift.

No matter which gift you pick, don’t forget the flowers! A small bouquet of your mom’s favorite flower is sure to top off any gift with just the perfect amount of love. Now go appreciate your mother, because she deserves the best!
