INDY BLUE…WEDDING INSPO FOR THE NEXT DECADE

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Dalhousie chapter.

Ever since I was a kid I have been obsessed with weddings. I’m not sure where it stems from but for a decent part of my life, I considered my dream job wedding planning. Picking the perfect dress, the perfect flowers, the perfect venue, the colours and the small details – my definition of a good time. I have been planning my wedding since the age of twelve. I have been to more weddings than I can count on my fingers and I think what I love so much about weddings is that they are a time to celebrate love in the way that you feel represents you and the person you love – sharing your love with those closest to you.

I have been collecting wedding inspo for the past decade; vigorously noting my favourite elements from Sophia Bush, Sarah Hyland, and now Indy Blue’s wedding.

I’m sure you have seen the gorgeous feathered dress, beautiful country mansion, and stunning film photos on your TikTok For You page this past week. Indy Blue and Jackson Dunford got married on October 11th, 2022 surrounded by their closest friends and family. Every element of their wedding was completely authentic to who they are and it was simply beautiful (this is what I am telling my children was the Royal Wedding).

But first, for those of you who don’t know her, who is Indy Blue? India (Indy) Blue is an American social media influencer, best known for her Instagram content, travel vlogs and clothing brand Lonely Ghost. I remember growing up watching Indy’s travel vlogs. She began her internet presence with her online blog at the age of 11 and then moved onto YouTube in 2018.

Indy and Jackson met when they were 16 which she describes as “not being a choice” in her blog piece about him. They had an on and off relationship up until Indy got pregnant with their son, Seven. From that point onward the two of them built the love they now share. In her piece about Jack she ends it with “I AM IN LOVE WITH MY BEST FRIEND” and on October 11th she got to marry him.

Their wedding was filled with so many beautiful, authentic moments that I am hoping to draw inspiration from for my own wedding someday – so, I thought I would share for those of you who are just as obsessed with her highly anticipated wedding.

Dress

Indy Blue’s wedding dress was this long, white feathered gown that trailed behind her. She paired it with long feathered gloves and a matching feathered hat. Her wedding dress was absolutely stunning and I loved how she incorporated current trends into her wedding outfit. For her rehearsal dinner, the night before her wedding, she wore this GORGEOUS red gown with these short, balloon sleeves. The dress shaped her so well and I loved that she chose such a bold colour to stand out.

Vintage Photo Booth

One of my favourite aspects of Indy’s wedding reception was the vintage photobooth that she had. Her guests were able to take photos with her and her husband creating these beautiful memories that everyone will get to keep a tangible element of forever! I think these black and white photos are just such a lovely touch.

Bridesmaids Looks

Saying Indy Blue’s wedding was fun is definitely an understatement, and every bridesmaid was definitely wearing something fun. Indy Blue handpicked all of her bridesmaids outfits which I think is really sweet. From blues, to greens, to pinks, every bridesmaid was wearing something different and individually handpicked. This is genuinely authentic and is a detail that I’d like to incorporate in my own wedding someday.

Custom Cups

Indy Blue’s drink of choice is a Moscow Mule and she made sure that her guests had plenty at her wedding. Every guest was also gifted a Moscow Mule cup, engraved with Indy and Jackson’s cowboy boot and heel detailing. I thought that this was a really classy and sweet touch and is something that their guests will really appreciate.

Everyone wants to be surrounded by the people closest to them on their special day, and Indy Blue was able to do just that. A day filled with immense love that they will all remember for the rest of their lives, as well as having a number of details that brides-to-be will definitely be hoping to include in their own celebrations (myself  included) for years to come.
