Why do we march?

It’s a simple question, with a complicated answer.

It’s more than just equal pay, discrimination and sexism.

It’s for a purpose.

It’s for a future when my daughter can walk to school and not get cat called on her way there.

It’s for a safer work environment, where women don’t feel that their jobs are at stake if they don’t “keep quiet.”

It’s for migrant women who fear being deported, who fear being mistreated and who work harder than any citizen to provide for their families.

It’s for my future son’s female friends who should feel comfortable standing up for themselves when a classmate says “her boobs are so SMALL” or “she’s JUST A GIRL.”

It’s for my future husband who will stand up for inequality without the scrutiny of his male friends.

It’s for a future where women can feel encouraged to speak up when their superiors get “a little too handsy.”

It’s for women to feel empowered and speak their minds instead of hiding behind their smile.

It’s a way of life, and it’s the ONLY way to move forward to an equal and amazing future.

It’s a time where women and men don’t feel “dramatic” for calling themselves feminists.

We hate to break it to you, but if you believe in equality, you’re a feminist.

Stand up for women, stand up FOR ALL WOMEN. It’s  time to change the perspective people have of women because the future is female, and you guys aren’t going anywhere without us.
