“My Husband is Cheating on Me With My Best Friend” is the Craziest Reddit Post I’ve Ever Read

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CWU chapter.

Has anyone ever seen one of those TikTok, YouTube, or Reddit posts highlighting a wild and debatable story about someone’s life? Cause me too. It seems like Reddit’s AITA (Am I The A**hole), True off-my-chest, and Revenge pages have taken over the internet recently. Furthermore, it has consumed most of my “for-you” pages on my social media pages. Recently, I was watching a Smosh Reading Reddit Stories episode on YouTube where three of their cast members read and debated over the week’s craziest Reddit stories. The narrator and featured cast member on this series is named Shayne Topp, and he is an excellent narrator. He acts as a sort of mediator, keeping everyone sane while reading the sometimes horribly disturbing posts and making sure to read each update so every viewer gets the whole picture.

In this specific video I was watching, they begin to discuss this woman’s story. Immediately, you know the post is gonna be utterly gut-wrenching. Shayne beings with the title of the post, “My husband is cheating on me with my best friend…”

Am I The Ex? | Reading Reddit Stories

The post from r/TrueOffMyChest beings with a brief explanation of the woman’s age and everyone in the story’s general information. This woman’s husband and her have been together since they were nineteen (her) and twenty-two (him). They had been married for six years and had two children together. She explains that her husband is her “rock” and has stuck by her side through her father’s recent diagnosis with stage-three colon cancer, who only has a couple of months left alive. Her father is her last remaining parent after her mom’s passing when she was twelve.

She and her BFF have been friends since they were in diapers. They grew up like sisters because of their moms being best friends. So, when the woman’s mother passed away, the BFF’s mom became her mother figure. These two and their families were as close as could be. The woman talks about her best friend, saying, “If there were soulmates in friend form, she was mine.”

She begins to get into the main issue, saying, “This morning as I was up with my three-year-old (he’s sick) my husband’s work alarm was going off. He has a few that he sets, so I turned that one off and gently woke him up; he said he was up late working so he took the morning off. Rolled over and went back to sleep. As I went to turn off the remainder of his alarms, I saw a text from my friend on his lock screen that said “I’m assuming since there hasn’t been an angry pregnant lady on my doorstep, you haven’t told her about us yet?”

Time froze in that moment. I took his phone and walked away and just read their conversations. Four months this man has been f***ing my best friend. Four months these people have been lying to my face.”

YOU’RE KIDDING.

As soon as Shayne read this, I sat up in bed. This cannot be real! This is every woman’s worst nightmare. As someone who is not shy about having been cheated on with my best friend, this is all too familiar. However, this is next-level bad. You’re telling me her two biggest supports in her life have been betraying her for four months, despite what she’s going through?! Absolutely crazy.

She goes on to explain her next steps and that she will be filing for divorce and leaving her husband quietly. She made a checklist of things she will need before leaving and how she will deal with her kids. She contacted both her husband’s family and the BFF’s family and they are both infuriated. You can really tell that these two families loved this woman so much and are completely disgusted by both of their children’s behavior.

And then…an update is posted. The two cast members listening to the story in the YouTube video go wild!

The woman left her house and took her kids with her to a close family member’s house. Meanwhile, her husband’s and best friend’s family confront the two of them with all of the evidence. After learning that the wife knew about the affair, the BFF and the husband blow up her phone, blaming her, threatening her, all of the above. It got to the point that the husband took violent action against the wife. This is the part in the story where the woman says that she will be fighting for sole custody (for obvious reasons). Messy, messy, messy.

There is so much more to this story and I’m sure everyone who read and watched this unfold was taken through an emotional rollercoaster.

At the end of the day, this woman is so incredibly strong. She states that she is still healing and needs to take her time to come back to update the people of Reddit, but I would not blame her if she never came back. This woman needs to focus on herself, her kids and their collective healing.

Here’s to hoping this woman is safe and living her best life without these two awful people. Good riddance!
