Has it been a strange time for cosmetics or what? Well now that the nationwide shut down is starting to slowly bring us all back to normal, the makeup industry is right back at it with products to sell. The most recent offender is none other than Jeffree Star Cosmetics. JSC last week announced that their Creamed Collection was still set to be released as of last Friday. The collection as of now is still on the website and available for order. Being that we are in the middle of a global pandemic, fans of Jeffree were upset to learn that the theme for this collection was about death since so many people are dying lately. But Jeffree did make a video addressing the drama and he said what we already knew. Making a collection takes almost an entire year, so being that Jeffree is not physic, he didn’t intend for there to be a pandemic right when his collection launched. Although you can argue that he could’ve waited to release the collection, it’s understandable that he couldn’t wait any longer and most likely needed to get some paychecks out for his employees. Going over two months without any sales or production is hard on a business like Jeffree’s, and it’s sad to see the community so upset with someone who just needs to make a living.

This collection is all theme with monochrome colors. Shades like black, gray, and white are incredibly featured in this pallet. Fans found that some of the shades were a little too similar, but as you could imagine, creating a black and white pallet limits your color wheel. Even though the fans were upset, the pallet and most of the collection pieces sold out quickly, showing that not everyone was a part of cancel culture. The collection includes the Cremated pallet (also being the fist JSC product to feature Jeffree’s face on the packaging), several new lip glosses, and an array of bags, straws, and mirrors. The unfortunate state of the world right now makes me sad since this collection is so killer, yet we can’t enjoy it because many of us are living pay-check-to-pay-check or facing serious health risks. Even though we are all adjusting to our new normal, at least we have sickening pictures from this collection to look at to pass the time. A little-known fact about this collection is that Jeffree’s friend and employee, Lipstick Nic, has created all the looks in the pictures and even the makeup on the pallet packaging.

So, what do you think about this collection? Was the timing wrong and disrespectful? And as always, will you be buying anything from this collection? I think I might buy the pallet when it comes back into stock since I don’t have a pallet like this and its great for everyday use. I wonder what the next collection will look like, and what the summer seasons have in store. Anyway, I hope you all are staying safe and doing well being two months now into the stay at home orders. I’m sending good vibes!
