If you have ever or currently struggle with acne then you most likely have also struggled with the dreaded acne scars.  Personally, I have struggled with acne since middle school and I always have struggled with the (worst) cystic acne. Finally, now that I’m a junior in college I have gotten a slight hold on my breakouts (after almost 10 years!).  Now that my acne is starting to stay in its lane, the next step is to tackle the stubborn acne scars that have overstayed their welcome.

My New Holy Grail Product

HYALURONIC ACID. okay, so I know what you are probably thinking.  Acid? I know it sounds weird but hear me out, I thought the same thing when I first heard of it.  Hyaluronic acid is well known for its skin benefits, especially dry skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and speeding up wound healing.

Vitamin C serum

I have tried many types of Vitamin C serum, cheap and expensive.  Vitamin C is an antioxidant that stimulates collagen production in your skin and helps it look brighter and younger. I have tried serums from the Body Shop, and even Olehenriksen Truth Serum but my favorite I actually found at TJ Maxx for only $4.00.

Know Your Skin Type

I think this is one of the most important parts of clearing up your skin.  Learn if your skin is oily, dry, or combination and if your skin is sensitive or not. Sensitivity I also feel is the MOST important.  When I was first learning how to deal with my acne, I didn’t understand that my skin was sensitive and I was basically giving my skin a chemical burn from all the treatments, face washes, and topical creams I was using.  I essentially was making my acne worse because of the products I was using.

Always make sure to check with your dermatologist before you try any major changes to your skin, and also let us know what has worked or not worked for you in the comments!
