HCCWU Editor’s Picks: This is WEIRDD

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CWU chapter.

WEIRDD is an acronym that Lexie Lombard (@lexie) started as a series on her YouTube channel in 2016.  I personally love watching her monthly videos and think it is such a creative way to share what you are loving.  Here is what I am loving this March, with what I’ve been wearing/watching, eating, impressed by, reading, downloading and doing.

Wearing/Watching

Most of us have been stuck inside due to current world events, so I don’t know about you, but this has meant that I have been living in sweatpants (seriously I don’t think I have but on a pair of jeans this whole month).  Don’t be ashamed if you are in the same situation, basically so is the rest of the world, you are not alone. To go with these crazy times of being stuck (and safe) in our homes I bet you can also relate to binging Netflix in its entirety. Personally I have been watching Brooklynn Nine-Nine on Hulu for something that is easy on the hind and is a good distraction from the crazy when you need it, Gina may be able to solve all of your life problems.

Eating

Quarantine has most of us doing the same thing. BAKING. I am slowly falling into the hole of baking cookies almost every night, and to be honest, I’m not too mad about it.  It is a good distraction, and time filler and you get a tasty treat in the end! Banana bread and cookies have been the most popular items I have been seeing, but this is also a great time to try something new and challenge yourself!

Face masks are also a great way to pass the time and do some good old self-care. I have been re-using the Freeman Feeling Beautiful Sweet Tea & Lemon Peel-Away Clay Mask.  It is $5 at Ulta for a 6 fl oz bottle and it really has been clearing my skin up!

Reading

a bunch of books

This month My reading list has been longer than ever.  My spring break was spent inside due to the COVID-19 Safety precautions so I found myself spending most of that time actually reading.  I tend to not read for pleasure so actually having the time (and motivation) to read was actually really fun and relaxing. The first book finished in the “season” of social distancing was “Such a Fun Age” by Kiley Reid.

When being stuck inside day after day it can be easy to never get off the couch. So recently I have been downloading free workouts and setting a goal to finish one every day whether it is a simple yoga flow or a HIIT workout.  Making sure to keep your body moving every day can ensure your mood stays up as well.

Doing

This may sound repetitive, but it should be what everyone is doing STAYING INSIDE and staying safe, smart and washing your hands.

We hope you are able to spend this time with loved ones and still staying connected.

Stay safe Wildcats & we miss you!
