Hey, Upper East siders. Gossip Girl here. And I have the biggest news ever

A Gossip Girl reboot is coming!

I clearly remember watching Gossip Girl for the first time with my mom and sister and just how quickly the show sucked me in. We were obsessed and the show continues to be one of my favorite ways to bond with my family. So you can imagine how thrilled I am to see about the upcoming reboot, especially after hearing Kristen Bell is returning to voice Gossip Girl!

Now, as much as I adore the classic storyline there were some more problematic aspects, and I was worried that theme would continue but I was not disappointed to hear all the changes the show makers are implementing. The story picks up eight years after Gossip Girl went dark with a fresh generation of Manhattan’s elite. However, this generation of Constance Billard students won’t look like the Serena Van der Woodsen and Blair Waldorf’s we’re used to seeing ruling the steps of the Met. The show makers are dedicated to creating a cast of POC and Queer characters that tells a genuine story rather than the whitewashed, mostly straight band of characters who previously ran the upper east side.

“It is very much dealing with the way the world looks now, where wealth and privilege come from, and how you handle that. The thing I can’t say is there is a twist, and that all relates to the twist,”
~Joshua Safran

The writers are taking hints from HBO’s Euphoria, providing the watchers with a raw and real story that the watchers can relate and see themselves in, that still encapsulates the lives of hot, rich and drama-filled teens, through the lens of Gossip Girl’s narration we’re used to from the original Gossip Girl.

The series is coming to HBO Max in May of 2020, with ten, hour-long episodes and *hopefully* a few cameos of the first generation of Gossip Girl’s victims, I mean a girl can dream to see Nate Archibald grace the screen again and finally get his happy ending. I hope you’re all as excited as I am for this reboot, I can’t wait to see what Gossip Girl is capable of with the world of social media!

That’s all for now readers,
