Is Emergen-C a Good Remedy for Emergencies?

This is a sponsored feature. All opinions are 100% from Her Campus.

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CWU chapter.

I’ve seen Emergen-C packages countless times and always thought it looked interesting, but never actually tried it. In this Her Campus Survival Kit, we happened to get products from Emergen-C. So, of course, I jumped on the opportunity to review it! I tried the Emergen-C Nutrient Shot Energy+ in the flavor pomegranate-berry, and the classic 1,000 mg Vitamin C powder packets in super orange.

I was super intrigued by Emergen-C’s Nutrient Shot. Not so much because of the nutrients, but mainly because I am constantly running on caffeine. The shot contains 100 mg of caffeine from green tea leaf and coffee fruit, as well as vitamins C, B2, B3, and B6. The powder that contains the goods in the shot is released when the cap is twisted to the right, which was very hard for me. I’m not very strong, so it took me a good amount of effort to release the powder from the cap. After releasing the powder into the liquid, shake the bottle to mix, drink, and voila! The shot itself tasted true to the flavor promised, pomegranate-berry. It tasted just like adult gummy vitamins, which was nice, but it also has a medicinal aftertaste that caught me off guard but it wasn’t horrible. I consume quite a bit of caffeine, so I made sure this was the first caffeine I had in the day to ensure if I felt the effects it wasn’t from a different factor. I definitely felt a kick of energy from the shot after twenty or so minutes, and I felt like it actually even helped me focus. Plus, the shot contains a good amount of vitamins that helped me feel good! Overall, I would give the Nutrition Shot Energy+ an 8 out of 10, the points that were docked being from the aftertaste and difficulty to dispense the powder into the liquid and open the bottle. I’d recommend this to someone looking for a source of caffeine that doesn’t have a lot of sugar, especially if vitamins are a priority, too!

The other item I got to try was the 1,000 mg Vitamin C powder. I’ve seen this product in basically everyone’s house, and my first time trying it was interesting. These packets are LOADED with vitamin C. For reference, 1,000 mg of Vitamin C is 1,111 percent of the daily value. On top of vitamin C, the packets also contain an array of different B vitamins and small amounts of other vitamins (see picture above). I like a good punch of flavor in my drinks (I hate diluted flavors), so I mixed the packet with about 4 ounces of water. It tasted really good, I honestly thought it tasted just like the Flintstones Vitamins I took when I was a kid. I believe drinking it consistently would likely help to improve my overall health. I’ll give it a 9 out of 10 for now, just because I’m not sure that it makes that much of a difference health-wise. I will try to keep drinking it consistently and feel it improves my health and energy, that 9 could easily become a 10!

Overall, I’m pretty impressed by Emergen-C! The Nutrient Shot definitely does its job, and the vitamin C powder is yummy and filled with antioxidants. Shoutout to Emergen-C for being a sponsor for Her Campus and letting us try these products!
