Aeropostale, a clothing company for teens, was a victim of the fast changing retail and clothing scene. In May of 2016 they went bankrupt. “It has become increasingly clear that Aeropostale’s business model is broken and cannot be fixed without major restructuring,” writes Neil Saunders, CEO of retail research firm Conlumino. After this along came Simon Property Group CEO, David Simon, told investors Aéropostale could recover to become twice that reduced size again. “The only reason we decided to make this investment is because we believe we can make money,” Simon said, noting the low profit multiple of Aéropostale’s price at bankruptcy auction. Gearing towards the end of 2016, Aeropostale, the underdog to other teenage clothing stores, has revamped themselves in repositioning their brand.
