Relationships are a big thing in life. You make a relationship with everyone you meet, whether it be romantic, friendly, acquaintance, or enemy you create one of them. One of your earliest relationships is with your family or caregivers. One of the best relationships to have in life is one with a sibling if you have one, I have an older brother and he has been my best friend for my 19 years of life. Some siblings are close until later in life, some never are, and some are close from childhood. I want to talk about the reasons why having a good relationship with your siblings can be so important.

Will be blunt with you

I don’t know about other people but my brother is crazy honest with me if he thinks something doesn’t look good, tells me if he thinks the guy I’m talking to seems a little suspicious, or if I’m just making a bad decision. He always helps me make better decisions about things or at least tells me how dumb a plan of mine sounds.

Take care of you

Whether you have a brother or a sister, you have probably taken care of them when they were sick, injured, or heartbroken. But they have most likely helped you when you were feeling down or just a little off too. It’s liking having another parent who makes sure you are doing alright.

Adventure buddy

A lot of people with siblings have stories from their childhood about random and crazy things you did with them and the activities just get more fun the older you get. You find crazy ways to pass the time or to rile up your parents, just to keep yourself entertained.

Bodyguard

You guys protect each other, sometimes just from creepy guys/girls, from getting in trouble, from trauma, it can be from anything but you have each other’s backs when things get rough.

Person to bother

At least with me, I find great joy in annoying my brother and have ever since I was little. Whether it’s just being an annoying little sister who follows him around with his friends, bothers him when he’s playing video games or homework, or just pokes him until he plays with me.

Relationships are an extremely important thing in life. Even if you don’t have a sibling and just have a best friend or group of friends you probably treat them like siblings in your own way.
