This past year I have been binge-watching every tv series I could on every platform I had. I have seen the Vampire Diaries at least twice and New Girl is currently playing in the background as we speak. If you haven’t gathered yet, I am dying for something new.

I am someone who loves new movies and tries to see them the first night they come out. 2020 made that very difficult with the precautions we had to take in order to maintain social distancing and our own health. The movie theaters were forced to shut down due to paused productions on films, and lack of customers.

When I am not attending CWU in Ellensburg, I live 50 miles from Seattle. There are not many things to do on a Friday night there but the Blue Fox Drive-in has become a very popular spot, especially during the pandemic. The Blue Fox has been in business since 1959 and is the highlight of Oak Harbor, WA. They are located in a beautiful lot overlooking the mountains and have an arcade and go-cart track. They have a very diverse snack bar ranging from traditional popcorn and soda to Philly cheesesteak sandwiches and Redbull spritzers. This past month they even added a tavern in the back lot for customers 21+.  I have gone to the Blue Fox almost every other weekend during fall break. They are great about making sure everyone is wearing a face mask when they are outside their vehicles and maintain social distancing while inside.

I think it would be a great idea if they were to replace some of the stores that are closing, or even the old movie theaters, and turn them into a drive-in. We would be able to maintain social distancing so we can ride out the end of this virus, while also enjoying something we have been missing. This would also be a great opportunity for small restaurant owners to earn money serving their own food. This may help them open their own businesses again or make a business out of the new drive-in.

I hope you all had an amazing holiday season and keep an eye out for January’s book of the month!
