Bored? Procrastinating? Really just looking for a new tv show to watch? This is the article for you! I’ve scoured Netflix for days finding MY OWN TV shows to watch, and because of that, I’ve accumulated a long list of TV shows that are a must watch! I have a long list, but this one is my Top Five Netflix TV Shows You Have to Binge Watch!

1. Starting off strong, we have A Series of Unfortunate Events! Now I know, this isn’t exactly new, but they recently released the last season for the show, based on the books by Daniel Handler aka Lemony Snicket. There was a movie based on the first three books, but in my opinion, the show gives the characters and the storyline justice. Besides, with Neil Patrick Harris as Count Olaf, you can’t go wrong!

2. If you’re looking for a more reality-type show, Sex Education is the show for you! I seriously just finished the first season of this show and it’s so amazing! It shows genuine sex education not only for teens and young adults but also for middle-aged people and above. Sex Education also provides a look into a more realistic look at life, showing sexuality, drug-related family problems, abortion, and the pressures of young adulthood. This show is set in an unknown town in the UK, with a more American-ized school setting, which truly shows that this show is meant for anyone and everyone.

3. This TV show genuinely freaked me out and made me want to read the book based upon it (which I did, and it’s good), but, The Haunting of Hill House! The show, based upon the book by Shirley Jackson follows the Crain siblings as they relive the horrors that occurred in the house they lived in as children. The show is filled with many twists and turns that made me have to re-watch again! It’s not a scary show, perse, but it is very chilling throughout the whole season. I definitely would recommend watching this show strictly during the day. I also would recommend maybe being on the lookout for hidden ghosts throughout the episodes ;)

4. Queer Eye is a revival of the 2003 series that I honestly can never get enough of. The basis of the show is that there are 5 gay men who go around and basically fix people’s lives. They help people build their own confidence, not simply fix them but help them become their best selves. It deals with issues in the LGBTQ+ community as well as racism and self-confidence. As the tagline says, “More than just a makeover”! It truly is one of the most wholesome shows I’ve ever watched. 10/10 would recommend.

5. This final show really holds a place in my heart. One Day at a Time is another revival of the classic show of 1975. It’s a show about a Cuban family, with a single mother (who is a military veteran), her two children, and her mother. The show is really good at addressing issues that are relevant today including the current political climate, the LGBTQ+ community, racism, addiction and culture issues. It really holds a place in my heart because, as a Hispanic, it’s hard to find a show that is comparable to “regular” sitcom, that represents the Hispanic culture and relevant issues as this one does.
