Ten Last Minute Halloween Costumes You Can Make *Mostly* With Things You Already Own

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CU Boulder chapter.

If you’re in need of some last minute costume inspiration, these ideas are easy to put together and perfect if you’re not looking to spend too much money this Halloween!

Vampire

For this costume, all you need is a pair of black jeans or leggings, a black shirt and a leather jacket. (Really any black jacket will work!)

Elle Woods fom Legally Blonde

This costume requires you to think PINK! There you have it: an instant transformation into the best lawyer there ever was. You can also bring along your dog for the night because… why not?

Damian from Mean Girls

This is a very low-effort costume, but it’s still amazing. You will need a blue hoodie, sunglasses and a sign that says “she doesn’t even go here.”

Identity Theft

It doesn’t matter what you wear for this costume, as long as you have a lot of nametags (with different names, obviously).

Regina George from Mean Girls

You will need to sacrifice an old tank top for this costume, but it’s definitely worth it. Cut two circles where your boobs would go and you’re ready! Make sure to wear a tank top under it, though, or at least a bra.

Error 404 — Costume Not Found

This one is pretty self-explanatory, but take a plain old white shirt and write “Error 404 — costume not found.”

Ceiling Fan

Take a plain old shirt and write, “Go ceiling, go!” Feel free to spice it up with some pom poms as well. You’ll be the punniest cheerleader there is!

Nickelback

For this costume, all you really need to do is tape some nickels (or any other type of coin) to the back of whatever shirt you choose to wear, and you’re good to go.

50 Shades of Grey

There are several takes on this one. You can either wear a groutfit, or if you want to be a little extra, you can take some paint samples and tape them onto your clothing. If you feel like being even more extra, feel free to add toy (or real) handcuffs to accessorize.

Ghost

This costume is very simple, so if you’re really lazy or just don’t feel like putting in the effort this Halloween, throw a white sheet over yourself with two holes for eyes. You’ll be the scariest ghost there is. Add a sign too if you’re really feeling it.

I hope this article helps you with your last minute Halloween costume needs and that everybody has a fun and safe Halloween!
