By now, I’m sure everyone has heard of “custard toast” from TikTok or IG Reels. This sweet or savory toast expands on the toast and toppings love everyone has. As an avocado toast lover, I knew I had to give this a try when I saw it on my feed.

The ingredients:

  • Yogurt
  • Sugar or sugar alternative
  • Egg
  • Vanilla
  • Bread
  • Toppings (fruit, chocolate, coconut, granola, seasonings, anything!)

Making it was pretty easy. I mixed some Noosa yogurt, an egg, and vanilla extract and poured that into my bread after pressing a pool into it. This proved a bit difficult since I was using ciabatta buns instead of sliced bread, but you live and you learn. Then I topped one piece of toast with strawberries and the other with blackberries. These went into my air fryer at 350 degrees F for about 12 minutes. TikTok told me it would only be about eight, but we are at high altitude, so I scheduled some extra cooking time just in case.

I didn’t add any extra sugar to mine, as the Noosa yogurt was already sweetened, but looking back, the egg evened it out enough where I still could’ve added some for a sweeter toast.

I really liked the toast, and it was so nice how quick it came together. I imagine I wouldn’t get bored if I switched up the toppings, or even made it more savory with some unflavored yogurt and seasonings.

I paired the toast with some avocado that was about to go bad and some apple juice.

Throughout the day, this kept me really full and satisfied. I liked how much energy it gave me without the crash that sometimes comes with just eating toast for breakfast. I feel the same way about eggs, but don’t always have the time to sit with a pan of eggs to make sure they cook just how I want. This was so easy since it just went into the air fryer or oven, and was done in a few minutes!

This works so well with my busy schedule, since I want to stay full and have the energy for a productive day, but I don’t always want eggs or have the time for a bigger breakfast.

I would recommend that anyone try this to mix up their breakfast routine and maybe use up some yogurt you won’t eat plain.
