On Wednesday March 8, fashion month came to a close in Paris. Starting in New York  and ending in the French fashion capital, the world was graced with a taste of what is to come in women’s fashion this fall.

Festivities began in New York City from Feb. 9- Feb. 17, before moving to the next city. Celebrities and fashion lovers from all over the world flocked to the city to experience the commotion first hand.

Stripes were front and center of countless shows in New York. From Marc Jacobs to Diane von Furstenberg,  stripes were everywhere. Jacobs opted for a colorful form of the trend while designers like Diane von Furstenberg opted for a subtle take on the look.

Along with stripes, boating gear was a popular choice with many designers. Baby blues, button adorned jackets, and light pin stripes had the models looking like captains. Fashion favorite, Rag & Bone adopted the look into their show with a stunning navy dress.

London Fashion Week followed next and remained from Feb. 17 – Feb. 21. Young designers were the focus of the week. Brilliant individuals under the age of thirty created an astonishing number of the shows. Mimi Wade, 25, was one of the young designers that had the opportunity to showcase her talent. Her show highlighted a messy evening look that put a modern twist on old glamour.

Popular trends that could be seen all throughout the week included billowing sleeves and oversized knits. The Topshop show paired large knits with equally long skirts.

After London, the celebration continued in Milan from Feb. 22 – Feb. 28. Backstage beauty looks caught the attention of the media as well as fashion enthusiasts. From unconventional eye shadow looks to glitter lips, makeup stole the show.

Supermodel sisters Bella and Gigi Hadid walked together in the Fendi show with a face full of glitter. The makeup look complimented the shiny, floral aesthetic of the clothes in the show.

Last but never least, fashion took over Paris from Feb. 28- March 8.  The city has long been given the title of “Fashion Capital of the World,” so the choice to end the month in Paris was of no surprise.

Chanel, Miu Miu, Louis Vuitton, Hérmes, and many other major labels presented beautiful shows full of exciting material. Karl Lagerfeld, head designer of Chanel, created a space themed runway for his show. Many of the pieces in his show were galactic inspired including metallic embroidery and clothes adorned with sparkle.

The countless trends and bold statements that took over the runway will soon be seen in street styles across the world as fashion month continues to set the precedent of the next season of fashion.
