Monthly playlists are a really beautiful way to remember your feelings and vibes of different times in your life, plus it’s really fun to listen to a playlist from a specific month and feel like you’re back in that month. This is my go-to playlist for the entire month, and it really becomes a mini soundtrack to each period in my life.

Here is my February 2022, in songs:

“Slutmouth” — Girlpool

Fave lyric: “I don’t really care about the clothes I wear. I don’t really care to brush my hair. I go to school every day. Just to be made a housewife one day Sometimes, I wanna be a boy. ‘Cause I feel like a toy. Can I keep you up all night? We will see.”

“Michelle” — Sir Chloe

Fave lyric: “You know just how to be cruel. When you shake your hips that way. Paint your lips that way.”

“Roman Holiday” — Hannah Richardson

This one is extra extra special because the artist, Hannah Richardson, is in Her Campus CU Boulder! Her articles are here and her entire album is here, go Hannah!

Fave lyric: “Friday night, oh oh where’s my guy. I want a $4 milkshake, salty fry. Another long week gone by, you’re my reward. Speed up, come on. I’ll hop on your motorbike, we’ll fly through the twinkling city of lights and never get bored, bored, bored.”

“You Are Loved” — Defiance, Ohio

Fave lyric: “Nobody really wants to know the future. We just want to hear ‘you’ll be alright.’ And we’ll be alright. These days they will find us learning that we had it all wrong. But these days they will find us. Unashamed ’cause we’ve been learning all along.”

“tongue tied – at the dmc” — wens

Fave lyric: “I’m really bad at first impressions, I never know what to say. ‘Cause I get tongue tied in the brain. Can we start with twenty questions? Or we can dance ourselves away?”

“Being in Love Ain’t Everything” — Mood Funeral

Fave lyric: “Making out in the car while the sun goes down. Dance at the bar you and me downtown. Wind in the summer while we drive at night. Share a cigarette while we stand outside.”

“Weekend (feat. Miguel)” — Mac Miller

Fave lyric: “All the pain that they causin’ like, fuck it, we ballin’, now everythin’ straight. You feeling the feeling, I’m chilling, just living, I’m burning away. Conversations we having, I’m getting too static, too much on my plate. Lord, I need me a break.”

“Sunday Morning (feat. Josie Dunne)” — Matoma

Fave lyric: “I wanna feel high on a Sunday morning. I wanna feel like it’s all brand new. I wanna feel strong when I feel like falling. I wanna feel everything you do.”

“Writer In The Dark” — Lorde

Fave lyric: “I still feel you, now and then. Slow like pseudo-ephedrine. When you see me, will you say I’ve changed? I ride the subway, read the signs. I let the seasons change my mind. I love it here since I’ve stopped needing you.”

“Sweet Creature” — Harry Styles

Fave lyric: “Sweet creature, had another talk about where it’s going wrong. But we’re still young. We don’t know where we’re going. But we know where we belong.”

“Dashboard” — Modest Mouse

Fave lyric: “Oh, it could’ve been, should’ve been worse than you would ever know. Well, the windshield was broken, but I love the fresh air y’know. (The dashboard melted, but we still have the radio) Oh, it would’ve been, could’ve been, worse than you would ever know, oh. (The dashboard melted, but we still have the radio) Oh, we talked about nothing, which was more than I wanted you to know-oh-oh-oh-oh. Now here we go.”

“Little Queenie” — SadGirl

Fave lyric: “Close your eyes, Little Queenie. Go to sleep soon. I’ll be dreaming in a hurry. So I can dream of you. Ain’t no reason to cry. Ain’t no reason to doubt. Ain’t no reason to lie.”

“Little Queenie” — SadGirl

Fave lyric: “She will move across the evening. And find her seat inside my mind. The promise of a special girl, instant company. I can tell right from her stare, she thinks she weighs a key. But, she, she, she’s not you baby. She, she, she’s not you.”

“Garden Song” — Phoebe Bridgers

Fave lyric: “I don’t know how, but I’m taller. It must be something in the water. Everything’s growing in our garden. You don’t have to know that it’s haunted. The doctor put her hands over my liver. She told me my resentment’s getting smaller.”

“A Sunday Kind Of Love” — Etta James

Fave lyric: “I do my Sunday dreaming, oh yeah. And all my Sunday scheming. Every minute, every hour, every day. Oh, I’m hoping to discover, a certain kind of lover, who will show me the way.”

“Love Is Lame” — CamRoy

Fave lyric: “We used to fight a lot but that was ’cause we were so scared, someone else would come and take us. Fall in love like you did, you stupid, you knew this. I still taste your mucus, whеn I kiss a new chick. I wish it was you bitch, oh.”
