Lighthearted Valentine’s Gifts for Your S/O

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CU Boulder chapter.

Valentine’s Day is a time to show the people in your life that you love them, but if you’re in a relationship, this can come with unnecessary pressure to find the perfect gift. If you’ve just started dating someone or you and your partner don’t like going all out, these gifts bring the right amount of lightheartedness!

A ridiculous card

Finding the “right” card can be hard, so take the pressure off yourself and buy (or make) one that sums up your relationship. The cards above are from the Etsy shop Party Mountain Paper Co. They have so many funny and creative cards to choose from for around $5 each!

Put your (or your furry friend’s) face on something

This is one of the funniest things I’ve seen people do and I think it makes a great gift. You can put your face (or your pet’s face) on a pillow, socks, a t-shirt, a blanket, a pair of underwear (my personal favorite), and so many other items. I always encourage people to support small businesses, so here’s a search on Etsy with countless shops to purchase from. If you want to make a gift like this, I recommend using iron-on transfer paper because it’s really easy to use and you can add any image or text to almost any article of clothing.

Customize their favorite candy

Sweet treats are one of my favorite things, and if your partner also enjoys candy, then giving them a more personalized treat makes a great gift! A few places that allow you to personalize candy are M&Ms, Sweet Parties Shop, and Poppin Candy (not as customizable, but they sell unique candy mixes).

A purposeful notepad

Knock Knock has countless notepads and coupon books to give and use with your partner. A few of my favorites are the Paper Tantrum Nifty Notes Pad ($6), Attitude of Gratitude Nifty Note Pad ($6), and Self-Care Weekly Tracker Pad ($8.99). If notepads aren’t your thing, they also sell books, card decks, journals, and stationery!

A brownie pan with only edges

This gift is very specific, but I received it a while back and it’s one of my favorite things ever. If brownie edges are your or your s/o’s favorite, get this pan ASAP! I promise you won’t regret it, and it’ll make baking together even more fun.

A Bossy Pants candle

Bossy Pants Candle Co. has some of the cutest candles. I’m in love with the brand’s aesthetic and they have over 30 products to choose from. Each candle is $28, and they also just launched a Valentine’s Day Collection. However, I would also consider giving them a “You’re The Tits”, “Wake Up, Kick Ass”, or “You’re Doing Amazing, Sweetie” candle!

I hope these gifts help ease your mind about what to give your partner for Valentine’s Day. Gift-giving should be fun and something that shows the other person how much you know and love them! I don’t think gifts need to be hundreds of dollars to do this (although there’s nothing wrong with it if they are), so that’s why I made this list. Happy (almost) Valentine’s Day!
