This week, I didn’t have classes, so I spent lots of time with friends, explored new restaurants, and studied for finals. Read more about it below!

Monday, December 6th

I woke up in Ukraine this morning to fresh snow on the ground, so I knew today would be pretty uneventful, and it was. I spent most of the day watching season three of “You” and packing my things to go back to Barcelona. I said goodbye to my grandpa, and my grandma and I headed to the airport. After I printed my boarding pass, I said bye to her as well and went through security. It was so great spending time with my grandparents and I hope I can see them again soon, even though we live so far from each other. I boarded the plane and proceeded to endure the longest four hours of my life. I don’t know why, but I was so uncomfortable on the plane, people were constantly standing up and moving, and there were children running up and down the aisles. Needless to say, I was thrilled when we landed and I got off the plane. I took a taxi back to my apartment and I got there around midnight, got ready for bed, and went to sleep.

Tuesday, December 7th

I slept in until 10 a.m. this morning, got coffee, and went to my study abroad office to pick up a package that I ordered. After that, I dropped it off at my apartment and went to the gym, and it felt so nice to exercise after a few days off. After the gym, I went to the grocery store and cooked the food that I bought so I could eat it for lunch. I attempted to be productive, so I worked for CU and tried writing a research paper that I have due next week. In the evening, a few of my friends and I went bar hopping; we started at a mojito bar, went to a dumpling restaurant for a break, went to another bar, and then ended up at another bar where all the study abroad students go. My roommate and I went home around 1 a.m. and got ready for bed. It was a super fun evening and one of the last crazy ones we get here.

Wednesday, December 8th

I slept in again this morning, bought coffee from my favorite coffee shop across the street, and tried to be productive, and I was sort of successful. At 1 p.m., my friends and I went to an all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant, which was absolutely delicious, and we were stuffed. I had been craving sushi for the longest time so when we found this place, we were set. Once I got home, I worked for CU, and then I went to the gym because I felt like I needed to move my body a bit. After the gym, I ate dinner, which was pasta with chicken and vegetables, and I worked on my research paper for Mediterranean Politics and continued watching season three of “You”. Then I got ready for bed and went to sleep.

Thursday, December 9th

Today was a super fun day. I woke up this morning at 9:30 a.m., went to the gym, bought myself a coffee, and started studying for finals. After I made a Quizlet for my International Business class, I got dressed and headed to the metro to go to the main shopping area of Barcelona. My shopping trip was successful; I bought a dress, some pants, and a cute shirt, and I was quite happy with my purchases. After shopping, I stopped by a nearby place that sells smoothies and got one called the “Berry Groove,” which was delicious. I tried to take a nap, but it was not really happening so I gave up and instead finished watching season three of “You.” At 8 p.m., my friends and I went to this beer factory for tapas, and they were so good. We had patatas bravas, croquettes, and this flatbread thing called flammkuchen. And what is dinner without dessert? We found a dessert shop 10 minutes away that had everything we could have dreamed of, and I got a donut and I loved every second of it. We came back to our apartment and made TikToks, and then we got ready and went to bed.

Friday, December 10th

Today, I did pretty much nothing. I started out the day with coffee and a sandwich and proceeded to study for my International Business final for the next hour. After studying, I watched some YouTube, and then I decided to pack a little bit more. I can’t believe I am already packing to go home, but I decided to make it easier on myself and do it little by little. I went to the gym around 2 p.m., and then I came home and hung out with my roommates for a while. I watched “Mamma Mia” to kill some time (and because I love that movie) and as soon as the pizza place downstairs opened up at 8 p.m., my roommates and I headed down there for food. We came back to the apartment, drank some wine, hung out, and went to bed.

Saturday, December 11th

I cannot believe that a week from today, I will be on an airplane flying home. But, before that happens, I still have to take finals. So, this morning, one of my roommates and I went to an adorable cafe to write our research papers and study for finals. The coffee was so good and I had a delicious cinnamon bread thing, AND there was a dog at the cafe, who was so sweet and I gave her plenty of attention. After spending three and a half hours at this cafe, we headed back to the apartment where I quickly ate lunch and headed to the metro because I had a piercing appointment. I got my ear pierced, which I’ve been wanting to do for a while, but oh my gosh it hurt so bad I thought I was going to die. I headed home on the metro and I watched some YouTube videos, and later, my roommate and I went to get dinner at a tapas place. We got home, had some wine, and went to sleep.

Sunday, December 12th

Today was a really productive day. I woke up at 9:30 a.m., got ready for the gym, and headed to work out. After my workout, I stopped by my apartment to grab my backpack and I went to my favorite cafe across the street to continue writing my research paper and to study for finals. I spent about five hours at the cafe, after which my brain was done being productive. I came home and relaxed for a few hours, continued packing some clothes that I will no longer wear, and then my roommates and I went to a nearby restaurant for dinner. After, we got ice cream and headed home to get ready for bed.

I can’t believe I am saying this, but I have five days left of my study abroad. I hope you’ve enjoyed reading 15 weeks, and I will be back next week with my last article of the “Life in Barcelona” series.
