Here at CU, celebrating “Halloweekend” is a tradition that lights up any Buff’s college experience. So naturally, a lot of us are feeling pretty bummed about missing out on our annual frat hopping shenanigans this spooky season due to Covid-19. But fear not, friends! I’ve compiled a list of fun Halloween activities for you to do that are pandemic friendly. Yay!

Horror Movie-Thon

Round up all of your roommates, order some Chinese food, and prepare to freak out. You can’t go wrong with a horror movie night, unless of course, you’re scared of the dark. There’s nothing like freaking out with friends.

Do a DIY Photoshoot

Brainstorm a couple of Halloween costume ideas ahead of time. Do your makeup, find a spot in your living space with a blank background and good lighting, and go at it with the self timer! Bonus points if you incorporate cute props into your pictures. (Jack-o-lanterns, anyone?) It turns out that you don’t need to be in a frat basement to get some Instagrammable Halloween pics.

Zoom Party

If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that all things can be done through Zoom who strengthens us. Literally, like everything. Find a time that works between you and your pals’ schedules to do a Zoom party! To spice things up, you can even do a Zoom costume challenge.

Crafting

Have you ever heard of gourd art? No? Stop reading this right now and go Google “gourd art”. No, seriously. Please go do it. Okay. Pretty epic, right? Right?! So now that you know what gourd art is, you should like, probably do some gourd art for fun. Or carve pumpkins. Or something. Anything crafty!

Look, it sucks that Halloween this year has to go down this way. Believe me, I get it. But hey, maybe you’ll foster a new appreciation for normalcy. Or gourd art! Or both. Hopefully, you consider some alternatives to your typical college Halloween celebrations though, because you could save a life in the process. Be responsible and stay safe. Happy Halloween!
