Fun Activities to Add to Your Fall 2020 Bucket List

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CU Boulder chapter.

Fall is officially here, and let’s not be afraid to admit that we are thrilled that it is. This season is the perfect time to take a break from all those online classes and spend some time outside. Here are a few fun activities to help make this fall season one to remember.

Go for a hike.

Colorado has some of the best hiking destinations in the nation, why not take advantage of them? The fall season is the best season to enjoy a delightful hike. The temperatures are cooler, the bugs are less noticeable, the wildlife is roaming more, and the crowds become smaller. Most importantly, the colors are changing and making the landscape more beautiful all around us. This makes a fall hike one of the best as it makes us slow down, take a look around, and appreciate what the earth has given us.

The Boulder Farmers Market.

Colorado may be one of the most active states, but that doesn’t mean all our fall activities have to be. Sometimes we just want a lazy Sunday type of day, and the Boulder Farmers Market is the perfect activity for then. Located on 13th street, this event takes place on Saturdays from 8am to 2pm until the end of November. Here you get to casually stroll through the market, and other parts of Boulder if you desire, and enjoy the many aspects this season has to offer.

Go canoeing or kayaking.

It may sound crazy, but speaking as a person who grew up on the Mississippi River, this season is the perfect time to get out on the water. Settling into your canoe or kayak is the perfect way to have a relaxing day as you float slowly through the water with some family and friends or maybe just by yourself. As you relax, you also have the best view of the fall colors all around you.

Pick some pumpkins, with a view of course.

Let’s admit it, we all loved picking out our own pumpkins as kids, so why not continue this fun tradition? The Munson Farms is located 15 minutes outside the city of Boulder with a picture perfect view and perfect ground to complete a fun fall activity. At the Munson Farms you can pick pumpkins, of course, while also taking cute fall photos or taking a calming stroll through the many patches they have on their farming land.

Go camping.

Fall may be the best season for hiking, but it is even better for camping. The temperatures are cooler, the bugs are non-existent, and the prices are lower since the camping season settles down in the fall, making your trip more pleasant and budget-friendly. While you are surrounded by the beautiful colors during the day and sleep under the stars at night, you gain a great time bonding with your friends and family while also securing a relaxing trip in the calm nature.

See a drive-in movie at the Dairy Arts Center.

The season for drive-in movies may be slowing down, but our love for them is not. The Dairy Arts Center offers drive-in movies starting at 7:30 pm for $25 until the end of October, and is a great fall activity for the season. Not only do you get to snuggle under the blankets in the back of your car to keep warm from the cool temperatures, you also get to spend some quality time with your family and friends outside before winter hits and the cold drives us to stay inside. You also get the chance to explore exciting new things that Boulder has to offer, making us all fall in love with the city a little more.

The stress from online classes can be overwhelming, don’t be afraid to take some time for yourself this season and enjoy these activities!
